Cubase: sending FX channels to groups?

Remember also, that you are talking about SX-1. It's been ages since I've fired that up. I just remember the group routing bug (among other really stupid bugs). God I hated that release. heheheh

At least in SX1, the only number is the *default* channel name. I guess that if you rename "group 01" to "group 02" and "group 02" to "group 01", it still won't swap their internal numbers, so it would be a bit misleading to define that group number by the name given to the group
And if you rename your groups to have sensible names, you can't know their group number any more.

No, I'm not talking about the track name. Again I don't remember SX-1 very well, but there should be a number on the project track and the mixer itself.Pollux wrote:At least in SX1, the only number is the *default* channel name. Well, I can't see any, maybe they added this in 2/3. So you can change this number? If so, that's cool
Plus, if you can assign huge numbers such as 1234 then you don't even need to worry about moving things around as you can just pick any number within the range between two channels. But maybe they need to be contiguous?

No you can't change the number, but you hit one of the keys to managing the situation. I basically saved a template that has 25 pre-configured groups, then hid them. You might need more or less depending how you work. But it isn't that hard.Pollux wrote:Well, I can't see any, maybe they added this in 2/3. So you can change this number? OK, do you know if the track-hiding trick works even in Cubase SL3, or if it's an SX-only feature to hide individual tracks? I know the mixer is less powerful, but that's all (again, I wish Steinberg not only provided more recent demos, but also demos to all versions

All this would be way easier if Cubase allowed for dragging and dropping of insert FX.
I've been running into grouping problems a number of times now and find the internal routing to be pretty much annoying.

yep and yep. I keep hoping they will allow us to "disable" groups temporarily so we can drag a group up the chain.Sascha Franck wrote:All this would be way easier if Cubase allowed for dragging and dropping of insert FX.

Draggable inserts has got to be the worlds oldest user request. I simply don't understand why they don't do it. It has nothing to do with PDC as you can just recalc it after the move. It makes no sense at all.

5,000 NEW FEATURES!!!
SX-68 brings cutting edge features to an already jam packed product. These features are so revolutionary that we KNOW you would never have thought to ask for them. Things like:
#1 Moveable Inserts
#2 Solo/Mute/Record multi enable/disable
#3 Configurable Mixers
#4 Workspaces that actually save the workspace settings.
etc...

I now have SL3, and you can indeed change the number displayed in the mixer by simply moving the track, but not the internal number used to determine routing: thus the manual is incorrect when it says routing depends on the group number...
