Mtron is made by Gmedia its a mellotron emu. it has 3 great choirs in its sound set- all very ethereal with reverb added.

And you can get 3 other "tape" banks for the M-Tron. Not including combinations of choir with organ or strings, or single voices, Tape Bank 1 has 6 additional choirs, while Tape Banks 2 and 3 have 3 more choirs each.S_A_P® wrote:Mtron is made by Gmedia its a mellotron emu. it has 3 great choirs in its sound set- all very ethereal with reverb added.

I have to admit I don't have a fave choir set.
SoV has fine tones, and lots of presets, but there's not much in there that could play a scary choir (Pars Fortuna). Well polished but limp.
VocApoc tries to be different and does have mod wheel modulation to produce a more responsive sound, but this can easily sound harsh and unreal.
Neither of the above have separate soprano, alto, tenor and bass parts so anything beyond two melody lines playing together sounds like mush.
All the rest of the various oohs and aahhs on the market are just that.
Good for slow melodies or occasional pads that don't sound real.
Diva is interesting but all the samples have a very formal sound and are mostly suited for sad tunes.
Maybe Devon might be reviewing Symphonic Choirs for traxmusic which promises to be a revelation according to the spec.
But it's a $999 spend.
Sooo ... is there a choir out that's really worth it?
I wish there was. But I haven't heard it yet.
