i just downloaded Buzz again for the first time in years..
i'm not good at tracker style sequencing - so i'd like to run buzz from a midi sequencer - software though - i have no hardware sequencer and only 1 PC..
i found BuzzVST but it's link is dead and the forum is gone.. :(

has anybody here used midi to trigger buzz? i'm thinking one of those midi loopback things maybe...

or should i just start learning to track?

this may be possible by loading buzz machines into polac's vst adapter and routing midi into it. not sure how you would get it to share the audio driver tho

If you can't download BuzzVST, don't want to spend any money, and you want to get the most out of the instruments and effects that come with Buzz, I suspect you'll have to learn how to track. I say this because that's the only way I can think of to automate the parameters of Buzz Machines without purchasing Fruity Loops.

Fruity Loops Studio comes bundled with a wrapper for Buzz Generator Machines.

On the otherhand, if your motivation is the routing possibilities that come with Buzz, I recommend looking into EnergyXT. It provides better routing possibilities, and a piano-role sequencer (which I'm guessing you're more comfortable with) to boot. Though it's not free, it's not expensive (although, I guess that depends on your perspective), and has a very functionable demo. Also, it is under, what appears to be, consistent, inspired development, which you may, unfortunately, not be able to say for Buzz.

That said, I still think Buzz is one of the most elegant and enjoyable trackers I've used. Imo, the samplers alone, are worth, spending some time learning how to automate.

But, I dunno...., maybe I've missed something.

Aghh,.. I was forgetting you can simply record slider movements to create automation. And sliders can be controlled from external devices, so, I'm obviously sleeping. I'll try not to be such a know-it-all in future posts.

Buzz can import midi files. Search the buzzmacine.com forum.

ya - but i want realtime midi sequencing.. my kingdom for realtime midi sequencing..!

this cool musician Gerry Cueto told me that there's a rewire plugin for Buzz..!
but as soon as i found that out Buzz starts crashing and wont load.. guess i'll reinstall it later..

i think this handy metronome machine that lets you start/stop buzz via midi. should be easy to setup i bet (although i never tested it).
aka rktic. demoscener (Farbrausch, Holon, MFX, Still), sound designer, ux-dude, sth @AudioRealism, human synthesizer—not necessarily in that order.

I just got Project 5 (version 1.5, waiting for free version 2 upgrade in the mail) and plan on using it to sequence MIDI with buzz. You can load VST-I's and DX-I's in P5 and sequence them, and theoretically you should be able to send MIDI info (notes, CC automation) from P5 to buzz through the free RGC:Midi Out plugin and a midiwrapper to control buzzmachines. Using P5 as a rewire slave to Buzz ensures that both programs are synchronized all the time. This seems like it will be an awesome setup, but I haven't experimented with it enough yet. My preliminary attempts with the P5ver2 demo have worked well.
