Well, as long as there's no better resolution I can't see much of a reason in using this instead of my 2 17" TFTs (and it looks as if resolution would even be lower than 1280x1024).

I imagine its HD - 1920x1080. The guy must be blind as a bat to need that thing.

It's defenitely not 1920 - and perhaps not even 1080 either (but I can't exactly tell).
I have Logic running on the other screen right now (5cm away from the page displaying his screen) and it seems there's more content visible on my screen.
My first bet would still be 1280x1024.

Yes, you can see the blank screen on one of the other photos.

projector yes.. it's one of them retractible projector screen thingies he's viewing on. After hours they pull it back down and watch the fish tank behind it

i imagine the main usefulness of this would be for other people in the studio to see what he's doing while he's working, so they don't all have to crowd around the little monitors. i think that would be kinda funky really.

Yes, that's one big advantage.
Another one is you can hang over any equipment without 'moving away' from the monitor. Visual feedback independent of where you are ...

look at that screen!!!!!
