Seeing that laughable thread about synths used by Night Ranger got me thinking about the first concert I ever attended (no, it wasn't NR)

Actually, if I really want be accurate, the first "concert" I ever saw was a San Francisco performance of the Nutcracker when I was about 4 years old. After that was a concert by Peet Seeger at Stanford University, when I was perhaps age 5.

So I guess what I'm really asking is, what was the first big "rock" or "pop" show you ever went to? For me, it was...

Ronnie James Dio at the Cow Palace!

It was big, it was loud, there was a giant dragon on the stage and lots of explosions... I got a nice contact high from the people smoking pot right in front of me... and to top it off, when we left the show we had to fight our way through throngs of religious protestors to get to the car where my mom was waiting to pick us up!

The first gig I ever saw was:

SUGAR!!!

The mighty Bob Mould and lots of hardcore punks stagediving constantly!!

It was more like early Husker Du playing sugar songs - basically they mangled every single one into a massive, powerful noise. It was brilliant if not what I expected.

Support came from Puppy Love Bomb who have dissapeared as they deserved.
Apparently the Bordoms supported at the London gig :x

The next one was shed 7...

Some 70's stadium thing with my parents when I was little, probably.
On my own, some tiny local punk show in a smelly basement somewhere, probably.
