Great shows I regret having missed:
Floyd in the 70's
Zappa in the 70's
Sabbath with Ozzy.
Woodstock 69.. too young then.. though I live less than 10 miles from the site.. what a party that was though..
Favorite shows I did NOT miss:
Led Zep
Yes with Wakeman
ELP with and without the orchestra
Way too many other smaller venues to mention...

Concerts I could have been to but weren't (Beatles, Presley, Jenny Lind, etc were a bit ahead of me...):
Michael Jackson - Dangerous
U2 - Achtung Baby
Kate Bush - anything
Laurie Anderson - United States I-IV
Great thread topic, BTW!

I turned down a free ticket to U2s Pop tour at Wembley. I also declined an offer to see Pink Floyd's Delicate Sound of Thunder Tour at Docklands.

Missed Joe Cocker in the early 70's 'cause he was kicked out of Australia on drug charges. Come to think of it I reckon Joe missed most of the previous 2 concerts as well and he was there
Saw him in 2003 - very cool.
Missed Yes and Wakeman in the 70's
but got them in 2004.
Seventies concerts I did see:
Leon Russell
'Stones
Speaking of Leon - he's still gigging, white as snow, limps and little on the porky side! Going to the USA on monday and tossing up whether to fly to California and see him! $US 500 for a concert including airfares - maybe not!

i saw that slayer tour - not really my favourite type of music but probably the tightest group i have ever seenIan SDZH wrote:Celtic Frost's Tragic Serenades Tour...

i guess i'd always assumed that there was lots of overdubs on fast metal and metallica sorta proved that by sounding nowhere near as good as the do on record
slayer sounded exactly like their albums - just faster !
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

I saw Slayer in '99, and one of the most memorable moments was during the intro to Raining Blood, right around when the thunder sounds on the album, someone nearby set off a cherry bomb (or some similar explosive device) in a trashcan! Funny stuff, people couldn't figure out if it was part of the show or not...later on, the can got passed around the pit...

I saw slayer in around 98-99 also, went with some mates as i was interested in seeing machinehead (who were support). When slayer were playing there was one guitar lick with feedback that went right through my head like a saw.
" of us ended up with tinnitus - & one mate left with a perforated eardrum.
Don't go to gigs as often anymore.
Suppose this should have gone in the 'memorable concert' thread - it was certainly memorable.

i wish i would have started earlier going to depeche mode gigs. only saw the exciter tour, but that one was brilliant.
and to add a "concert i wish i'd *not* seen" - the genesis tour back in the 90es. was expensive and bad-sounding. sound may have been a location issue tho.

@ diverdee OUCH!!!
I saw Slayer of the South of Heaven Tour and really enjoyed it, but it would have been better to have seen them at their absolute peak after the release of Reign In Blood.
