Does anyone know how to supress that stupid "The 2 Output channels will be mixed down to a mono channel!" warning? Damn thing comes up every single bounce-down, and I can't find anything in the literature about it.

Sounds odd - are you actually deliberately bouncing down to mono? Can't say I've ever seen that particular warning (mainly because I generally bounce down to stereo - if I want a mono .wav, I tend to route stereo channels to a mono group or something like that). I don't understand...are you wanting to bounce to stereo, but can't....or are you wanting to bounce to mono, and simply want to get rid of a warning screen? (I didn't know it came up with a warning - I assumed if you choose mono, it simply renders to mono.)

have you got any live channels switched on. I've never had that problem but I have a suspicion that an effect could be in the chain which isn't stereo is on a stereo channel. Apart from that I have no idea mate. Sorry

OK, I have Cubase SX 2 on one machine and Nuendo 3 on another. In both programs, when it comes time to export mono audio from the sequencer to a wave file, I get the "2 Output Channels" warning. I don't mean bouncing clips in the track window. SX 1 didn't do this at all.

Surely someone else gets this?

how are your tracks being routed in sx2. Group channels any sends??

Well...depends on the project, but usually I got most things bussed to Groups, got a few things sent to FX Groups, and this all goes to "BUS 1", the main stereo out - just like always, just like I've been doing for years. But I'll get this message if I just open a new project, import a stereo file, try to export mono - no fancy routing or anything.

It's something with the newer versions. Here's what I mean:

In the 'export audio mixdown' window, have you specified the type of track you want to export under the 'output' section and most importantly, the 'channel' section?

sx 2 and above work in stereo only

Yes, sir. It's the same thing I've always done:

I've got to be clear-I've been using Neundo since v1.0 and SX since v1.0. I'm doing nothing differently than before, and all of a sudden I get this annoying warning.

no i don't get the warning - i don't do mono exports but i remembered someone at cubase.net complaining (never !) about how cubase no longer supported mono outputs

so i did i quick try of exporting from a mono channel - and ist still insisted on exporting it as a stereo wav

so i just guessed

but can i ask why you need to export mono files

I think you'll always get a warning message if you are choosing a stereo output to a mono file mixdown. Guess it makes sense, yeah?

if you set up a mono output bus - send the channel to that then you can export your mono file - but is Ok the message or changing your channel settings less hassle ?

I work for a multimedia company and I do a lot of voice over work. I'm not wasting space with stereo voice files! Not to mention basses, guitars...there are lots of mono things in life!

OK, well, it appears I have to actually delete the stereo Bus. Idiotic. I think what I could do for VO sessions is switch/delete the Bus once I'm exporting the clips. What a pain.

actually...what you want to do...to avoid the warning...is either set up all your tracks from the beginning in mono...or..the easier thing that i do....is change your output from mono to STEREO INTERLEAVED** that way you'll get a stereo output in just one file

But that will make a stereo file from a mono source! I think you misunderstood the problem, Jonathan. And it doesn't matter if I set up the tracks in Mono, either; it's all about the Bus.

The only way I can supress the warning is to force the SX audio engine to mix EVERYTHING in Mono, that's all. Problem is, our Nuendo machine is wired in a 5.1 configuration, so I can't just use a mono-out only template. I'm just surprised no one else has this hassle. I should check the Cubase forums, perhaps.

Supress that !@%$# channel warning in SX?
