I don't mean technically...I certainly wouldn't be able to understand it even if you explained it to memultree wrote:we don't rat out our secretsIgor 4000 wrote:Out of curiousity, what exactly does WideBug do? But to me it was a noticeable difference. I was listening to a mix through phones and when I popped WideBug on the main bus I was like "wow!". Like I said...it seems to do more than advertised.

Its actually m+s processing on the origianl stereo signal. Its an old mixing trick where you do a funky phase inversion and then mix the time delayed version with the originalOut of curiousity, what exactly does WideBug do? Maybe it's just my untrained ears, but it seems to do more than just widen the sound...putting in on the master bus makes everything seem "bigger".
Its the same technique that makes m+s microphones have the sound they do

They work in cubase vst 4 and tracktion 1.6. I find bugpass very useful, monstaChourus is excelent as well as flofi. There's quite a few to try.

Im having problems with the FloFi plug not having a GUI using DirectiXer, the only ones that did have a GUI out of the bugpack were WideBug and the W1. Any ideas?

Curious. I use Tracktion for all my plugs, so I dunno what's there. Conflicting ID with another plug-in? Tracktion's not very forgiving for that sort of thing, so the more plug-ins you have installed, the higher your chances that somebody hasn't registered theirs properly to find out that the ID is already taken.
I wonder if the DirectiXer issue has something to do with the way Delphi code gets compiled. Maybe DirectiXer doesn't like Delphi builds? If that's the case, it'd be a tricky one to solve. I always sort of assumed that once something was compiled, your system no longer cares what tools were used to build it, but maybe that's not the case?
I'm just grasping at straws here. They all worked for me in Tracktion and eXT on XP, but that's all I have personally, and the other testers didn't note any discrepancies before release.

Hey lunch... Any idea why Tracktion won't load Widebug? It loads all the rest but puts Widebug in the ignore list... This is from a brand spanking new install with the Betabug pack being 2nd group of plugins installed.

Thanks for reporting the 'bug'. With the new information, the problem turned out to be the commonly encountered "missing msvcr70.dll" bug, which isn't Betabugs or Tracktion-specific.
See THIS Bughouse thread for further explanation and (hopefully) the solution. Crayon Filter uses the same .dll, so anyone having Crayon Filter problems should follow the same directions and it'll clear both up at once.
