First concert you ever attended?2005-04-28T19:48:58+00:00Seeing that laughable thread about synths used by Night Ranger got me thinking about the first concert I ever attended (no, it wasn't NR)
Actually, if I really want be accurate, the first "concert" I ever saw was a San Francisco performance of the Nutcracker when I was about 4 years old. After that was a concert by Peet Seeger at Stanford University, when I was perhaps age 5.
So I guess what I'm really asking is, what was the first big "rock" or "pop" show you ever went to? For me, it was...
Ronnie James Dio at the Cow Palace!
It was big, it was loud, there was a giant dragon on the stage and lots of explosions... I got a nice contact high from the people smoking pot right in front of me... and to top it off, when we left the show we had to fight our way through throngs of religious protestors to get to the car where my mom was waiting to pick us up! :lol:deastmanhttps://www.kvraudio.com/forum/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=8386
Err ... 4 guys who were quite well known during the sixties. 1966, Grugahalle Essen. I was merely 14 but i have an older sister and she had a boyfriend. Ah yes, that band ... they called themselves Beatles. Didn't hear very much from the band, healthy lungs, those girls ...
I went to see Taj Mahal at the Springfield Civic Auditorium in MA around 1968(?). The concert cost $1. The opening act? An unknown band called Led Zepellin.
Years later (1976?), I was in Wisconsin at a high school auditorium. The show cost $3. I was wasted. Near the end, there was a huge explosion on the stage. I was in the rear of the auditorium and was knocked over. I expected to see dead bodies everythwere, but the band was still jamming. It was part of the show and had not been done before. The unknown band: STYXX!
