Hi, I'm trying to run Csound 5, but it requires python23.dll .
I installed the latest version of Python, searched SourceForge, searched my computer (just to make sure) and a bunch of DLL and Python sites, but haven't been able to find it or any answers.
Evidently I've missed something or/and am doing something wrong.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

python23 would imply Python 2.3.
Latest v of Python is 2.4.1, which perhaps does not ship with previous versions. Would also then seem that CSound was hard coded to python23 rather than just pythonxx.
Do you really need Python for Csound? I would guess they just use it as add-on scripting language. Maybe try an install without Python support/extensions.

Hi shamann,
thanks for responding. I wasn't sure how to "install without Python support/extensions", so I uninstalled the new Python and installed the old (2.3). It stopped giving me the error message, but I'm still not sure I'm going about things correctly, because, well, it wouldn't run. An executable is listed in my start menu, but nothing happens when I click it.
Anyway, I downloaded an older version of Csound (at least I think it's all there), and it seems to be working (I'm getting sounds when I run a file), so I'll noodle with that. As you may be able to tell, I'm a tad lost.
But, I'm glad you responded. I searched your site, really enjoyed listening to coma (somehow it suited the whole lost-like experience), and happily discovered PanicNow.
I'll report in if I get the newer Csound to work.
Thanks!

this helped me a lot!
I kind of put it down after getting the very basic jist (sic?) of it.
why didn't I just say 'idea' instead of using a word that i am not sure how to spell correctly?
why did I have to ask someone just now how to spell the word 'correctly' correctly?
