Have you played your tunes loud at parties? Did they sound alright?

That will depend on the quality of the host and mastering probably more than than the vstis.

Is that to say that "usable" techno can be made at home on VSTuff, to be later properly mastered?

For host I have Cubase 1.06

I use Nuendo to do stuff with (ambient, tribal trance and some dark DnB) , Cubase is very similar and yes you can do very proffesional sounding tracks with either.

check out adventus. very large, very cool, very cheap.
..what goes around comes around..

yeah I have checked it. I did not like it.

Zero Vector sounds veeery cool for me. also z3ta - sharp enough to cut through.

UltraDv and others,
do you have sb else do the mastering?

I'm not a techno expert, but Project 5 ver 2 seems ready made for techno production. It comes with a compliment of great plug ins, including the new Dimension synth which is easily worth the price of the program.

Hi,

Vanguard is da shit! then Z3ta+, crusherXstudio

Post

i cant imagine how vanguard would be good for techno? maybe for a techno bass i suppose

but i totally agree with z3ta .. it's excellent for techno

i also use the fm7 aswell
blasphemy is a victimless crime

Try Synth1 - it is free and can be used for really nasty, deep sounds aswell as nice pads and leads. :D There are loads of great free patches aswell for Synth1. Do a search on the web and you should find them - I have got about 25 banks worth downloaded!
Windows 10. Asus X99-Pro i7 6950X 10 Core 3GHz (Overclocked to 3.5GHz). Corsair DDR4 64GB Vengeance LPX 2400MHz. RME RayDAT. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970. UAD2 Quad+Octo. Reaper. A couple of plugins.

I'm surprised you didn't like Adventus...but "Techno" is a pretty vague term...There are more than enough great free synths to "make techno" with here; you should just download 'em all and keep the ones that inspire you. I use a few paid synths (Adventus, Minimonsta, Audiorealism Bassline), but I'm finding more and more that I'm turning to the free/cheaper synths to get cool sounds.

To help with mastering, check this out:

I've had some good results with this, my work holds up better from place to place.
