Hi

I've noticed a funny noise that TP makes when you turn the res up and the filter down, particularly with short notes that are repeated quickly. And before anyone says anything, this is not the high pitched squealing a resonant filter is _supposed_ to make, more like some kind of weird aliasing. It's not very audible but I can definitely hear it with headphones. Is TP meant to do this? :?:

Aliasing is a term for a very specific sort of noise (spectral images appearing as a result of a low quality sample-rate conversion). Digital filters cannot introduce aliasing into a signal as they only boost or cut spectral components already present in the source.

Chances are what you are listening to is just a slight pop as the filter closes. However, without an example patch it'd be hard to say.

Hi Dave

Thanks for replying. I'm sorry that my descriptive abilities aren't up to much. Can I send you a patch or even clip of audio? If so, where should I send it?

This is by no means a crit, BTW, Tau Pro and Tau are pretty much my bass synthesizer of choice these days, more like idle curiousity. :)

Why not send me (service@muon-software.com) an FXP file containing a patch that exhibits this noise, and I'll check it out here.

I think you'll find though that its just a "pop" as the filter closes and re-opens quickly.

Dave
