ok, maybe not THE new Star Wars but A new one. :D

I did a search on kvr and couldn't find anything. I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned; It's been out 2 weeks.

An Star Wars fan film to be more exact. 3 years in the making.
Apparentely it only costed $20.000 to make it, but despite that the CGI is absolutely  :o . I kid you not. Almost rivalling the real thing.

Best of all.... it's a free (legal) download. It's rather short though, 47 min.

The soundtrack is also VERY good and produced only using EWQLSO Gold/Silver, impressive.

Is it good?

Why don't you find out for yourself :D

I just read about this in Slate the other day, and am meaning to check it out. It is highly likely to be better than the official movie according to the Slate article.

Downloading Revelations now, will give you my opinion later. I'm excited, hope it's as good as you say. I've watched a lot of Star Wars fan films and have seen some pretty good effects, but not really anywhere near the real movie. Course they never spent $20,000 either, so I'm hoping this is gonna be good. I've always thought that it's possible (but not easy) to make a decent Star Wars type movie on a small budget, these days.

Here's a link to a fun little home made job too.

Just started watching a few minutes ago when it crashed, so I am downloading it instead of streaming..

The effects are unbelieveably well done.. the acting is so so ( true to the last 2 star wars movies  )
Play it by ear

Well I downloaded it, but Quicktime is the biggest load of shite in the world, so I am downloading anew in wmv, the second biggest load of shite in the world. Would it have been server oppressive to have it as an mpeg?

I downloaded it but it cut out half way through. I did manage to watch half of it. My accessment, the acting is pretty bad but that is to be expected. The thing that made it horrible to watch was the lighting. Could barely see anything and my guess is they saved money in the lighting they used. I will say that the CGI was very good and that makes up for the other shortcomings. I would not be surprised if this either allready works for one of the big CGI companies or will very soon. Good try at it tho.

Okay, I've had my geek fill for the week. Yeah, lighting is terrible, not sure if it's because of the filming, editing, or compression, but it was way too dark. Nice CGI, amateur acting (it's ok), some spots were a little rushed, others seemed to drag a little. Story line is a yawner.

Overall, it was pretty decent, worth downloading if you've got some extra time on your hand, kinda fun.

It's available here: http://www.lysator.liu.se/%7ezap/revelations/

I watched about ten minutes or so, got bored, turned it off. For me, Star Wars is like the Minimoog of movies. Some nice nostalgia trip, but it just isn't nearly as good as they would have us believe.
