GruvSyco wrote:Hi NicFit... how hard is it to wrap basic SE entities. I would love to see the SE DrumSeq as a VST that could trigger external VSTs.
What is it you like about it...shouldn't be too hard, but with XT I don't see the need for it.
GruvSyco wrote: Also... I noticed you're in Oklahoma too... very interesting.
As much as I hate admitting residence in this hellhole Red State ...I do.
Good to see another OKie around here ;)

I actually managed to figure out how to "wrap" it. The first time was internal clock and when I loaded it in my main screen, it automatically ran. I tried external clock and now it just sits there... not sure how to trigger it. I find it a lot easier to write basic drum/scratch tracks with that type of interface.

And... hehe, I'm not actually an OKie :P. I moved here last year from CA and in a couple of weeks, I'm moving to WA.

And... I officially bought eXT this weekend. Nice to be able to save and reload now :)

If any of you have some extra info, or could write some extra documentation/tutorials on how to use these plugins NicFit has written, it would be a great help... :)

You can place the extra info/tutorials/tips in this thread or email them to me. I can the place it on NicFit's plugin pages...

Extra presets for NicFit's plugins would be greatly appreciated :)

I have placed the nF_ControlFront Flash-tutorials on http://asseca-pt.net/nicfit/controlfront.html

Also, I have taken the KvR-comments on nF_MFsyx and placed it as text on http://asseca-pt.net/nicfit/mfsyx.html 8)

Ok a bit late but thanks for the help with nF_MFsyx.

Turns out i overlooked the midi out port on the gui.

And the control front tutorial is most excellent. Can see me using that a fair bit.

Thanks for yet another way cool plugin and taking the time to put together the tutorial. I really like your graphics. Think I'll go modulate something now!
Thanks

OK - maybe I'm a moron, but I can't get anything at all out of the chords plugin. It seems to just pass the midi straight through - no cool strumming. Can someone offer a tip or two? I've tried it in Tracktion and EnergyXT both...

Thanks,
P

Have a look at the gui, theres a section that tells you what midi keys you need to press to get different types of chords. eg F1 will give you a major chord. G1 a minor chord.

Then just hit another midi key above C2 (i think not at my DAW at the mo so I cant check) and it should play a major chord with that key as the root note.

There is also other chord control keys you can use. eg.strum select and inversion.

Hope this helps as its a great little midi controller. Havnt really used it much but looking foward to getting it used in some tracks.

Another beer in for NicFit

glad you guys find them useful...all these are hacked together in SE  ...all the real credit/gratitude should be directed towards the third party module developers, David Haupt, Chris Kerry, etc... and of course Jeff M for making SynthEdit so accessable. SE and XT go together like toast & butter(or jam for some of you) I recommend the combo highly, and you all should hurry before the price goes up ;)

any of my source files/graphic are freely available to anyone who can provide proof of donations to both CK and DH(you'll need all their modules).

Very usefull indeed.

I just whiped up this little midi plug in SE. It applys a formula to MIDI CC's you specify up to 4 CC's to use as vars and a formula then a CC to output the results. U and V are aftertouch and bend.
Here it is. There are no conditions on this plug. PLease host it, send it out. Say it's yours; anything (under VST and SE licence). If someone wants to make a GUI or edit the file send me a PM and I'll give you the file.

the help for the expression handler is here (uses EZMath II): http://www.synthedit.com/modules/se_ezmath2.zip

nF_ControlFront looks cool NicFit.
I'll put it on Energy eXTra with a rundown as soon as I get a chance as it looks like it profits from documentation.

I actually thought you were going to send me updated plugs to include on the site - but I don't think I received anything.

Setup
to select the MIDI channel to listen to - drag CH IN up/down
- - all other channels are passed through to the Mung section
to set the trigger notes - drag the TRIG MIDI note number or note name up or down, or
press the key on your MIDI keyboard, then click the keyboard icon after the TRIG number

to set the maximum data value - drag the Max value up or down
to set the number of divisions of the range of values - drag the Div value up or down, or
drag the Divider scale right or left
- -the number of discrete values is one more than the number of divisions (you can think of them as intervals between values),
- - for example, Div=003, gives 4 separate values, Div=015 gives 16 values
to set up an on/off control - drag the Div value to 001

Direct Control
to send MIDI CC events - drag the rotary control up/down, or
drag the hexagon right/left
- - the MIDI CC data value is shown in the box to the right of the controls
- - the centre of the rotary control always shows the full range 0..127, that is the input to the ranging and division (step) controls

to adjust any control precisely - press Ctrl while you are making the adjustment, for example Ctrl+drag the rotary control up/down

External Controllers
to link an external control - click EXT LINK, then adjust the control on your MIDI keyboard or control surface, then click the keyboard icon after EXT LINK
- - MIDI Learn, the input MIDI CC number appears after the keyboard icon
to deactivate/activate external control - click EXT LINK off/on

to create a parameter values labels file - -EDIT >> FILE >> copy the "name of parameter.txt file, give it a unique name and open it
to enter the label for a parameter value- -drag the control slider to the desired step, EDIT, enter the desired label, EDIT again (to save the label
- - repeat for each label to be entered
- -the labels are only saved to the .txt file when the song is saved
to use an existing labels file - EDIT >>FILE, browse to the desired file, and open it

Triggering the Controls
to set the control to step to its next value each time it is triggered - click STEPPER on
- - STEPPER is ignored when LFO is active
to select the trigger key for the control - click the little running man, then the select the desired trigkey
- - you can assign the same trigger key to more than one control
to cycle through the steps - click the loop mode arrow, select Wrap at end
to step through the steps forwards then backwards - click the loop mode arrow, select Reverse at end

Modulation by LFOs
- - each control can be modulated by up to 4 LFOs chosen from the bank of 6

to enable/disable the LFO modulation matrix - LFO on/off
to select the LFO to be used - click the small sine waveform, select the desired LFO
to set the LFO modulation depth - drag the depth value up or down
- - 000 means no effect
- - 100 means full effect, that is, apply the LFO waveform fully to the control value range

to select the waveform for an LFO - click LFO or the current waveform, select the desired waveform from the list
to set the LFO rate - drag the sync value up/down
- -the range is from 1/16th through 1bar to 8bars, and this scale can be halved, quartered or "eighthed" ( so the maximum LFO cycle is 64 bars)
to factor the rate - click the ÷ icon and select the desired divider
to set the start/restart mode for an LFO - click the metronome icon, select the desired mode
- - this can be when the host transport runs, at the start of the next bar, or on one of the trigger keys
to hold the LFO at the current value - click the hand icon, select the hold key from the trigger keys
- - when the trigger key is pressed, the LFO stops changing, when the key is released, the LFO resumes changing

to set the LFO data rate - click the two dotted lines icon, select LoRate or FullRate
- - NicFit suggests leaving this set at LoRate as this is still faster than any hardware controller
to set the phasing of the LFO - drag the phase slider, above the LFO waveform, to the right or left
