A new synth from Contralogic... Oh yeah I have been using Leto for ages it reminds of my CS15D somehow...
Downloading right now... man it took you ages to update or code a new synth

@chris - some people just don't get it. don't worry
@fax - nice. where the hell did i say PCM?
you aren't talkin' to a newbie here, you know. I was using synthesizers when you were in short pants.

just messin'. But seriously, try it. There is a very noticable difference between the sounds as you kill the volume of each bank down to one bank of four. even with careful detuning and modulation, it sounds nothing like the full 16.
anyway, it's nothing to argue over.
thanx for the synth chris. already starting to use it in a track..

Not really possible - but you only really use the four octave and note controls for making chords, the range of the detune knob is about +- half a semitone.Ronny Pries wrote:chris, could you implement a way to let the osc tunings learn from midi notes? i think that would be pretty cool to teach it some bigger chords without having to turn all those knobs
It's scary how fast time seems to pass - I think the first synth I made is already two and a half yeats ago. I've been playing quite a bit of music and along the way built up an assortment of SE projects created for my own use. I figured I'd tidy them up and release them as VSTis so this is the first new release of several that are in the pipeline.phankiejankie wrote:man it took you ages to update or code a new synth
If you're interested there's a few .se1 bits and pieces here. Nothing really groundbreaking, but the pd_fm synth can make some quite nice sounds.funkadil wrote:wow, ive never seen these synths. reminds me of things ive done in synthedit
I'm not really offended by FaX's comments or anything - it just seemed like he was judging the concept of the synth without even knowing how it sounds. That kind of attitude saddens me a bit because it can prevent interesting discoveries which aries from random experimentation.spoonboiler wrote:some people just don't get it. don't worry
As it happens "the big sea of frequency mud" sounds quite nice: even though it's a bit chaotic it's not totally random noise.

Actually I said "I" didn't feel the need for a 16 voice monosynth - well actually something along the lines of 'who the hell' but you get my drift.
1.I deliberately made a point of NOT critiqing this
particular plug - it's not my thing but it could
very well be someone elses.
2.The controversy helped keep your original post high
without the need for bumpinging your own product
adnauseum - nothign like a bit of extra
advertising
.
3.Your synth actually doesn't produce a big sea of frequency mud - though I know quite a few that can.
It's best suited as a lead synth from my use of it.
As i stated here if you like it great use it.
It's not the sort of sound I'm after.
That said I don't need a 16 osc monosynth to experiment either (that's just me) .
I'd rather 2-3 possibly 4 osc's max with flexible envelope / lfo and modular/semimodular patch routings myself.
I'm sure Pterosaur will appeal to a hell of a lot of users here and obviously it does.
I fortunately (or unfortunately for that matter) am not one of them.
Doesn't mean I do not resepct your work any less.
I couldn't code anything for shit so you've got about ten up on me already on that fact alone.
So please don't take anything I said as a personal attack on you.
It just doesn't suit my needs that's all.

No worries - I didn't take it as a personal attack at all. The main reason I took issue with your comments is because I had similar preconceptions about how bad 16 detuned oscillators might sound - it was only after trying it that I discovered it can sound pretty cool. Maybe there's some psychological issue involved - like the way you see images in random cloud formations or flames or whatever - that makes it sound better than it ought to.FaX wrote:please don't take anything I said as a personal attack on you.

wow. I played with this a little and more than the "wall-o-noise" trance beast I thought this would be, it has a really very thick and creamy sound; like butta' Thanks for this beast

You did it again Chris... This VSTi synth easily beats many commercial VSTis out there, especially riff-driven tranceheads will go bananas with this one.
If the freeware community keeps up the pace releasing such gems then what the big boys will have to come up to in order to make us seperate from our nice bucks LOL
As always thanks the community and the freeware coders for something that could easily be a commercial release

Sad but truechris_b wrote:wow thanksalthough I don't think it beats many commercial VSTis on CPU usage...with every modulation option active it uses about 15% CPU on my Athlon 2000
I can't recall but maybe you could turn off some oscillators in order to reduce CPU usage is this possible if not could it be implemented?
