I'd like to get a song of mine mastered.
It doesn't have the volume and whateverelse i'm looking for.
I'm happy with the mix.

I'm thinking of using a on-line service.

Anybody use one of these?

hey lucypickle,

I would preferably get a song mastered with myself in the physical presence of the engineer, best way to do it. Lots of $ though. However, barring that, i had a track mastered about a year ago by the online XARC Mastering(http://www.xarcmastering.com/), by Lorenz Vauck. granted i won a free mastering session, otherewise i would not have had it done. This guy is good, I couldnt believe how much better it sounded, i had mixed my track on crappy alesis point 7's in my studio with no acoustic treatment whatsoever and before the mastering the song sounded different if I moved around my room - the bass was way too heavy if i was far back in my room, fine if i was right by the monitors. I had the mastered version tested out on my stereo, my friends car stereo, and in a couple clubs, it sounded pretty good considering. Then again there are other mastering services, i dont know them, im only talking about my experience with XARC. Best to find a mastering engineer who specializes in the type of music you are doing.
