If you look at the new terms of service agreement that you have to agree too, to use the Sony forums now, it looks like something written by Sadam Housein. It definately has that dictatorship warm and fuzzy feel to it. It basically says anything you posts, at our disgression we can bring legal actions against you. That George Bush, he sure is smarter than I thought he was. I would have never thought he would force Sony to hire Sadam Housein, and in return Sadam's work ethics would gradually deteriate one of Japan's leading developers of consumer products, therefore having a domino effect of the consumer eventually losing faith in all Japanese products, which in turn would boast the sales in U.S. products being exported to make up for market demand, which then would stengthen the U.S. economy, therefore increasing the value of the dollar and driving gas prices back down to an affordable level. Brilliant George!!!!!

I sure am glad now I was Sadam's sacraficial lamb to be made an example of, for what was yet to come and deter other users in expressing anything other than positive feedback. I think it's better I hang out over here at these KVR forums, where you can feel a little more comfortable in having discussions about the tools both if it's good or bad.

Most of it's pretty plain old boilerplate, but there are a few below-the-waterline cannonball holes that amount to carte blanche to hold Stalinesque purges...

Undue and over-zealous deletion of significant threads and posts negatively affects me. Good thing for them I'm not a forum participant, or that VP would be history.

Post topics unrelated to the specific subject of the forum including but not limited to rumors or speculations about existing or unreleased Sony products, discussions of Sony policy and procedures, and non-constructive complaints or petitions.
Stalin would be proud. :x

Although the current interpretations and methods of enforcement are silly in the extreme, the actual document itself pretty standard stuff. I don't think anything Sony does will help them recover market share at this point.

The sad part to me is that Soundforge and Vegas were kick assed products that had a real shot to do something great. But, it gets proven over and over that having a big $$ company buy a smaller company for technology and specific market share rarely means that the purchased product will get to grow in the direction it did before.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

Tell me about it. (Or tell any Delphi programmer who remembers when Turbo Power got bought by an Internet gaming company amid promises that nothing significant would change.) :-(

I still love SF6, use it all the time. But I haven't seen any reason to upgrade.

I agree - Soundforge and Vegas had a shot at a large slice of market share, so what happened remains a corporate weirdness henceforth inexplicable.

What it makes me want to do, however, is develop a cool application like the above mentioned and then sell it to Sony for a few million and retire in Hawaii! If they blow it I still be laughin!

I have Vegas 5 & DVD 2. I considered upgrading to v6 but nearly all the 'improvements' are based on Sony plugging HD recorders.

They've introduced VST but it's crap. There is no option to troubleshoot any conflicting VST's in either ACID or VEGAS. This means that when either app registers the plugins it will crash if one of the plugins isn't compatible. And there's no way to isolate the offending plugin. I've had to switch-off VST in Acid because of this and don't relish the prospect of buying Vegas 6 and it's crippled VST implimentation.

Overall, Sony have delivered too little too late. It's sad that a huge multinational with all its resources are a bunch of tight little hitlers. If they had any oversight of the market they would be fixing these problems and offering a whole lot more with their upgrades.

It's the law of diminishing returns. The bigger these companies get the less they have to offer.

I upgraded to both Acid 5 and SoundForge 8. That is as high as I will go on either. With ReWire support in Acid I can do VSTi's and midi in Cubase and get by that way. I have my fingers crossed that they eventually un-screw SoundForge. It is a real mess. If they will just get it in decent shape I will be happy. Then I pull the plug. SX3 is probably my last upgrage for Cubase, as well. I have high hopes for Energy XT. I am pretty much finished dealing with big corperate entities.
