I'm an amateur producer writing Dance and Euro tracks. After 2-3 years of using samples I'm ready to go to the next level and write my first Female-Vocal track.
The problem is, I don't know where to start, how to find a female vocalist, and how to work in a studio with her. All my work thus far has been at home. However, I already have an idea of what I want (approximately).
I live in the US, so my plan is this:
1) The site "DanceBooking" http://www.dancebooking.com/?pid=srchartist&pcat=2 , based in New York, has a list of female vocalists in different genres. My link points to the "Dance" genre but they also have Trance, House, etc. Every girl has pics & a bio. (They even have Fragma and Iio!) I haven't found any other agencies.
2) Studios in NYC (Manhattan):
http://www.realrecording.com/ - RealRecording - looks fair
http://www.thecuttingroom.com/main.html - The CuttingRoom - might be ok, but a lot of technical stuff that I don't understand yet;
and right next to where I live, 5 min. away:
http://www.bandsindc.com/wfp/index2.htm
Also looks like a normal studio.
I have no experience with a mixing desk, Pro Tools, etc. All I want to do is spend 2 hrs in the studio and just record 4-6 lines, then go home.
Now that you have this background and my plan, please post whatever advice you think might be useful, and set me on the right path
thanks a lot
