You know when you go through phases of getting disillusioned with music and revist all your old faves, instead of seeking out new stuff, then - SUDDENLY!! - a great band you have never heard comes your way and blows the jaudice from your skin?

Well, for 10 points here are my two at the moment:

Chora - AFAIK they havnt actually released a record yet, I think they have a 3" CD out next week.
Amazing power electronic improv that encompasses jazz, US Hardcore, ambient, musique concrete, etc.
Their live show is structured, but the sounds that they make are improvised.
Stunning :hail:

Melt Banana - Me mates have been going on about them for ages, so I decided to get an album by them.
JESUS f**king CHRIST!!!
Mind-bogglingly fast punk/pop/hardcore with free jazz bits, loops, drum n bass sections - the sound of a established genre being made fun and intersting again. :D

So, who has floated your boat recently :?:

The All Tomorrow's Parties festival has really opened my ears to a lot of rock stuff.

A band called Afrirampo (two Japanese teenage girls on drums and guitar, both doing vocals) absolutely blew the shit out of everyone lucky enough to see them. Easily the best surprise of the festival. You can listen to 20 mins of their set at the Radio One site by following this link:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/networks ... music_rob#

... and fast-forwarding to 1 hour 15 mins. The player only lets you fast forward in 5 or 15 minute increments. If you hit 1hr 15mins exactly (be quick :P), that's only about 10-20 seconds after they came on stage and started confusing people with their "we are eating tomorrow" chant.

I honestly can't recommend this band enough. f**king amazing semi-improvised noise rock with a stage presence to match. I met the drummer, Pikachu, later in the wekeend and had a very nice conversation with her in exceptionally inventive (not to mention cute) broken English.

That stream is due to be pulled later today (Radio 1 only keep things for a week), so hurry up if you fancy a listen.

Imagine Isis songs stretched to 20+ minutes.

f**king epic :hail: :hail:

All the power of Isis but with extra emotion and melody.

(Plus EP 2 has a really f**king funny solo in it)
