A strange waltz tune using DMI's Foorius synth and really depressing lyrics can be found at http://www.soundclick.com/bands/9/stevenwestmusic.htm

Many kudos to the great mate Xander for his rough and raw Tom Waits-esque vocals which gave the song the edge I was looking for.

Other than that, it was Foorius, MDA ePiano, VB-1, a nice Kantele sample, Big Ass WTF, and SmEx Bouncy if I recall correctly? And of course, all harnesed within the power of Orion Platinum.

Dang, great backgrounds that seem to get slightly muddied by the vocals. I love the offbeatish character of this one.

Tom Waits. Not so sure about that. But this got something intriguing. The backing and the vocal (both very good) points in two entirely different ways. Like it!

I really appreciate Xander for belting it out as he did, and reminiscent more of Joe Cockers take on 'You Are So Beautiful' the more I listen to it.

So yes - a complete juxtaposition all around the square for this song. Pulling you in to push you out, anger within pain, the beauty of ugliness... Xander needed no direction for the lyrics, he did them bang on with no prodding. And the song goes real well with 4 days of drinking scotch I might add (though Xander sounds like he had drank more than I ...

)

Another bummer of a summer, and brown shoes STILL don't make it.

You know, I remember downloading the track, then woke up the next day and there was this microphone in me hand and an empty bottle o' Chivas lying on the floor...

Really though, you always think of things you could have done better after the fact.. and I kind of agree a bit with Mystahr Steven -- the vocal is perhaps drowning out some of the wonderful instrumentation you did and so I kinda sound like one of those 'mic-hogs' at the local kareoke bar or something

Even so, I suppose this is the mix you preferred, mi paisan maestro.

But thanks Steven -- I really enjoyed doing this!

I'm hoping to get some good compression tips, and I'll be going back to modify no doubt.

Or just automate that virtual fader a bit better. Just happy that all the clips fit well was the big hurdle. But the sport never has just 1 hurdle does it? Or else it wouldn't be much of a sport!

Hey Tuz -- thanks for the compliments.

And let me say: No one can be an asshole really... You'd have no arms or legs, your cheeks would be way too big to smile and your lips would be brown-stained and you'd never be able to whistle a tune above B2 properly!

Figured you were busy, I've been dying a slow death too - and Xander did all the hard work for this one.

After making you bust your throat for The Worst Fruit, I just couldn't bring myself to ask you to do it for this tune as well.

And there was actually 3 I had in mind for this tune based on their extrordinary vocal talents... A certain Hun that shall remain nameless - but was busy, my man Xander who was the next contender after his brilliant display in his own music. And if Xander gave me the pass up, I was going to beg, plead, and kiss Donkey Tuggers feet to help me.

So Xander saved me from Donks is all, and I saved you from killing your throat again - so it all works out with no assholes to be had in the bunch. Just some new styles with new sounds is all. And once we are done with our boring corporate 'tours of duty' you and I will wage war on innocent ears once again my friend.
