thanx for the great comments about the song
Msnah, I'm more amateur than you. If I find the project file I'll try to post it.
Thanks for the comments and plugs, implementing as I type.

TLs Pocket limiter is used alot here now, i cant believe this one is free, its an amazing plug..sometimes the classic plugins from Kjaerhus are used depends on what I need for a track.

Shameless I know, but my own dynamic EQ is possibly the most used plug in my collection..
these days I tend to use the 64-bit IQ4pro beta however (currently lacking a proper skin..)

Things I use on nearly every project:
Digital Fishphones Blockfish (always on the drums)
TBT TLs Pocket Limiter (over the master bus)
Ambience (a couple of sends usually)
TBT TGR-18 preamp (drums and most anything)
Effectizer (mostly on MrRay, MrTramp and Organizer Trio)
I've also started using Slim Slow Sliders EQ.
I have a feeling I will start using TLs Saturated Driver from TBT as well

I'd go with some multiband compression on the final mix, and kick it up with a limiter, bring the drums down, particularly the cymbals if you had the kit mic'ed to allow that. To my ears, the biggest problem is probably not your mix, but your instrument. The Casio sound is a bit thin and digital, though I'd say you made an admirable go at it.
Try getting digialfishphones Endorphin and putting the whole mix through the "loud and punchy" setting, after bringing down the drum track. Pull down the input trim on Endorphin until it doesn't distort, then play around with the controls to pull synth tracks forward until you get a sound that has power but balance.
Or do this on the tracks individually. I'm listening through earbuds, so I can't say for sure, but it seems like your bass track could be pumped up a bit, maybe with Endorphin and/or Baxxpander.
Also, check your levels, I'm hearing overall distortion. Classic Master Limiter may help with that.

I use some combination of buzzroom compressors and limiters in all my tracks.
http://www.x-buz.com/products.html
They sound amazing, never misbehave (if I don't.) and have a small enough CPU footprint that I can always add what I need no matter what.
Thanx Buzzroom! If you ever do release the shareware versions, I will be a customer.

Weird. I've had the opposite experience. Both the EQ and the comp glitched out continuously on me, using Tracktion.spoonboiler wrote:I use some combination of buzzroom compressors and limiters in all my tracks.

@Frippertronix
?
really? that's surprising.
Then again, my experience with tracktion is that despite being a really cool app, it lacks stability for me. But I have not heard that from other people, so it could be just me. It is just that, if a synth or effect is going to crash on me, chances are it is going to crash in tracktion.
