I figure while I learn about impulses why not learn how to make them too so I bought the impulse modeler, it's pretty straight forward but I'm sure there's alot to learn...any tips?
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

I find it quite a lot of fun to get blueprints of various places and try to build models of them in the Voxengo tool. It can get tedious but it's a lot of fun. I just wish the impulse modeler had a bigger working area for detail works.

I would have thought that the 2D nature of the models in Impulse Modeller would limit the accuracy of modelling a 3D space like a concert hall with high ceiling and raked seating. I would expect that Aleksey has tuned the parameters of the models to compensate to some degree.

according to the faqs it says the sustain property for walls will simulate the height as best it can, he explains it's tough to define hieght.

If you have a receptor wall in turns to a T...the line that's added, which side should that be on if you're using a cardiod type pattern?

Yeah I doubt seriously that such a model would sound exactly like the real space. In fact, depending on the nature of the ceiling, it might sound very different.

However, I have found that the results of doing this type of thing are still good and useful. For example, I've modeled the Meyerson Symphony Center here in Dallas, which is a well known hall that appears in a lot of IR libraries. The Voxengo-generated model sounds sort of like the 'real thing' IR I have but there are definitely differences. However, the Voxengo-generated model still sounds really *good* to my ears and is very usable, even though it's not an exact duplication of the real Meyerson space.
