Does it exist? I want to make some multi-samples from one of my synth but I don't know how to find the note of my samples to map them correctly in my computer. Could someone tell me how to do this?
Thanks in advance!

ideally you would name the sample with the note identification as you make it, but in a pinch you could just sit there with a guitar or another instrument and run up the neck until the notes are perfectly consonant. Then write it down or immediately save the file. It'll be a pain no matter what you do as I doubt there is a script to auto-name the files (but I hope I'm wrong).

Try Seamless Looper. Not only does it create superb sustain loops from your samples, but it also displays the root note for you
And it's extremely well priced at US$40 !

From my synth keyboard how can I know the note I'm recording is supposed to be mapped on C5 for exemple? I know I have a 5 octaves keyboard does it mean that like the FL Studio keymap the C5 note will be approx. at the center? If it can help I want to sample a Korg Poly-800 & a Yamaha MK-100.

The analysis function of good ole CoolEditPro does it.
Using your ears is not that difficult. And once you know which C is exactly the middle C, you know thats the one! Its just a name btw...

I've allways used my host to sequence external synths for wave capture to sample creation. So I start at the bottom of the scale, how far down depends on what type of sound I'm capturing. I'll then set a midi note for length and velocity. The note I set will determine the root note and file name. I now have my first file in a sample set by recording and then exporting audio to a named folder I've set up. I then transpose up by a predetermined amount dictated by the quality I'm going for. Sampling every note might not be nessesary but is not waisted. If I have a set of files which are not named by root I will use a sample set of similer sounds or a synth sound to pitch the unnamed sounds by ear. If this sounds complicated It's not. it takes less time than you'd think to process a whole set and nothing is as good as the human ear at making these decisions. ANY app that determines pitch can be fooled by frequency content not consistant with the pitch of the note and with synth sounds having a wide frequency range your best bet is to pitch by ear.If you do use an app to set pitch you will find yourself going back over the set on all but the most basic sounds. Heavily distorted and complex sounds are the hardest to pitch using software. But if your set the note and record the sounds you know what pitch is captured and when so it's just a case of naming the file right the first time

Whatever your software calls Middle C, some call it C3, other C4 and other C5, middle C is ALWAYS MIDI note number 60.C00kie wrote:And once you know which C is exactly the middle C, you know thats the one! Its just a name btw...
Of course, if your patch is detuned or transposed up or down what you will hear will be different than what is played.

I found one, free:
http://www.physics.usyd.edu.au/~marek/intune/index.html
But it doesn't work very well...
My idea is to samples my keyboards to make ds-404 patches, but the notes in the ds-404 don't correspond to the ones in the FruityLoops piano roll + the ds-404 manual isn't very clear about the map editor, like when I map a samples to say 5 notes, where my sample will be played in it original pitch? At the beginning of where I have mapped the sample or at the end?
