Okay so a few people might remember a previous post of mine describing my frustration at SX's lack of an automated audio export function that you could leave unattended to get on with the job. I took it upon myself to write this little tool and so far it seems to be doing the job very well.

So anyway, here it is... a word of warning though - it's definitely a BETA and it's very important that you read the included readme BEFORE you use it!

For those who don't know what it is or why they might need it consider this scenario: You have 40 tracks made up of audio and vsti tracks. You need to bounce each track down to an audio file for archive/backup, cpu-saving or post-mixing reasons. This would require exporting one track, waiting for it to finish and then moving onto the next. I wrote SX Unattended Audio Export Tool to automate this very tedious task - hope you all enjoy.

Feel free to post any bugs or suggestions for improvement. Nuendo users should also post here if they want me to write a version for them.

great stuff. do you need SX3/SL3 for this or will older versions do? Like SX 1/SE?

I've only tested this with SX2. If SX/SL versions 1 & 3 use the same series of keyboard presses to get the audio export window up then it should work fine. If not, then I can write specific versions for them as well as Nuendo users (for whom this tool will almost definitely not work.. yet).

This looks to be exactly what I was hoping to write for Nuendo in the incredible freeware AutoIt (http://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/) automation langauge (I had no luck doing so, BTW).

Any chance of a Nuendo version? Wouldn't it just be a matter of changing the name of the app the program is looking for?

EDIT: Just saw your note about being able to do a Nuendo version -- PLEASE DO!

Some people on the Cubase forums are helping me with a Nuendo version... should have something soon in the next few days. SL users should also post here if they need a version.

I've just uploaded a new version that fixes a few minor bugs. SL & Nuendo versions are in the works.

Sorry about the lack of updates recently - haven't had time to work on my tool up until tonight. I've just finished version 0.5 of SX Unattended Audio Export Tool which is actually completely re-written from scratch. Initial testing on my pc seems to suggest that it's more reliable than the last version but as always - USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

NEW USERS - Please read the whole of this thread carefully before using - the following zip file doesn't contain the (important) readme text file that came with previous versions.

Hey Milo

I found your old post here because I am in search of a similar solution, and I wondered if maybe you could help or advise. I am running Cubase 7.4 x64 on PC.

I do a lot of voice over recording, and my clients typically need tons of separate files output to match slides in presentations, that sort of thing. A typical project might have four or five folders, with 20 tracks in each, each named uniquely with the slide name, all of different lengths. All tracks will run out through a group where common processing is done, and through the stereo output bus. Once I've edited the tracks and want to mix out, all the tracks will be muted as I work on them one at a time, so then I open the mixdown dialogue and then I have to do the following for every track:

1. Select track
2. Unmute track
3. Copy track name to clipboard
3. Select all parts on the track
4. Set locators to selection length (P)
5. Paste track name into mixdown dialogue filename field
6. Press export

Then wait, then do it again for the next 80 tracks. It takes a long time and it's easy to mess up because its boring and your mind drifts and you miss a step (wrong track selected, wrong filename on clipboard, etc). Obviously from the second iteration onwards you have to mute the track you just exported before you start the steps again.

It's similar to the problem you had a solution for years back in SX. I am wondering how would you go about automating a task like that?

I'm not a a Cubase user anymore (switched to another DAW at SX times) neither the author of the above app, but I thought that recent Cubase version now also have batch-export functionality ?

Wouldn't that be the functionality you're looking for ?
