Hello everyone, this is my first post so please bare with me.

I'm looking for a program or plug-in that can translate midi notes to qwerty letters in order for me to type with my midi keyboard instead of the computer keyboard.

I would like to sequence some qwerty letters on a lighting program I own since it doesn't accept midi.

Is there such a thing?

Thanx

Not that I'm aware of. There's a couple of MIDI to ASCII tools out there, but I haven't a clue if they do what you need. Google for "midi to ascii"

The Kurzweil 2600 lets you type file names with the keys, so I guess this is possible.

Sorry...not much help.

Bome's midi translator allows you to map incoming midi messages to keystrokes
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

Is nobody going to jump in here with the keyboard player in the shallow end of the typing pool jokes?

Hi, I'm a MIDI guitarist but I hate to type, is there...
perception: the stuff reality is made of.

I'm planning to build something like this in PureData ( http://pure-data.iem.at/downloads/ ). Should be possible if I incorporate GridFlow ( http://artengine.ca/gridflow/ ) .

Interesting thread. Now I want a QWERTYpeggiator to save time and effort while typing.

*thinks of auto-typing gimmicks of the past*

Well... maybe not. :-D

I do appreciate everyones input. Bome's midi translator is exactly what I was looking for. Thanx haydxn.
