Should I strip the DJ off my moniker (DJMessy -> MrMessy)

Hi,

I'm grappling with a bit of a dilemma. In college, my nickname used to be Mr. Messy (people would just call me Mess :) ). As soon as I started producing my own music, I released it under DJMessy, cause I thought that would be a good way of using my nickname while being clear that I was making music. Over the last couple years, I've had to explain that I'm not really a DJ - I have zero turntable skills. I'm going to release another albulm this summer, and I'm going to push it harder then the last two. This seems like the last good opportunity to change my monkier. The only problem is, all the people who currently have my music already associate it with DJMessy. And its clear when I distribute my music under "DJMessy" is that its electronic music.

What do you think? Should I make the change? Or stick with whats working right now, since the term DJ is so broad these days.

Or I could switch to my birthname. . . .

Thanks,
- JimmyK -

I'd get rid of the 'messy' thing altogether

I kinda like "messy" actually for some reason.

I ditched the DJ off of my name. It was a good move.

people will forgive you if you go by 'messy dj' instead, also make a song called... stop
calling me a dj, and you'll get an instant following full of respect. but hurry, other non-djs are reading this.

Lose the 'dj' part, its not good.

You could always pretend that "DJ" stood for your first and middle names.

What do you think of that idea, Donnie Joe?
