KVR Audio

What are some great EQ's not listed on KVR? I know vb-audio has some, but this is with dongle.

I am trying everything listed on KVR now, I want to spread out more to audition too.

I primarily use Windows for recording.

Linux on Mac for everything else.

Good Gawd Sonalksis plugs are pricey.

Sonalksis is only 240$ each? How is that expensive?

I just want a colorful EQ that I can use often if needed. It is rarely needed but I would like the option.

So far I really like the Kjaerhus golden EQ a lot. It is hard to control though?

When all of Ozone3 can be had for $40 less, and Torben's fine plugs average $100 less, I call $240 per module expensive.

If you're Mutt Lange then I guess you can afford it, though, so it's all relative.

The sonic timeworks was really great that I tried, but my host does not handle DX well.

The ozone sounds terrible I think. Kjaerhus and Sonalksis are my favorite so far. Sonalksis the best of all.

Are there any other effects not listed on KVR worth trying? That dynamic EQ was neat to try, but I didnt like the sound too much.

I cant see how 240$ is much. That is 20hours of work for someone making standard living wage in the US. For the many hours we all spend working on audio to make it it's best by our standardizing, this is not a large cost at all.

Yea, but 20 hours/ plug when one might use 10-15 plugs, plus a DAW, plus a sampler, plus several VSTi's, plus a new PC every 3 years, plus all the analog hardware (I still mostly use analog synths and mic real guitars and vocals). This adds up in a serious way, even for serious musicians.

Pro studios who spend $300,000 or more to outfit can do what they want, but the rest of us are lucky we have Voxengo and Kjaerhus, etc., and I think they are very smart to realize there's masses of people who will buy their plugs who can't afford Waves or Protools HD in addition to all their other expenses.

You're the first person I've heard who hated Ozone.

Yea, I like what Tritone says on their website. Maybe I'll have to wait and get their compressor instead of Golden. I like the convolution concept applied to processing other than just reverb.

Haven't tried Ozone, but your bad reviews are noted.

Yes they are pricey...but they are worth it...very "analog" sounding for a digital device.

Im sorry we disagree, but that is ok. I do not care to put any expensive into my music. I spend much sweat, tears and time working on it.

Putting a price on acquiring what I think are the best tools so I can perform my art and engineering I think I would be cheating myself.

I do not use VSTi, I just play bass guitar and drums. I make a lot of electronic influenced music with my bass and drums. I spend a lot of time on my Mac making my own software to serve my needs. Now I work on PC with music and am learning the new tools.

Tritone looking interesting. Is the UI in it slow for everyone?
