couple of questions

Hi I saw the manystation snippet in SOS and went to check it out on the web.

I am not sure if this is the right product for me.

I play guitar and do rock acoustic rock stuff, but occaisionally need pads, and a little something to liven stuff up.

I use Cubase SX3, BFD, jamstix mainly.

I was looking at a product like hypersonic or sampletank for extra sounds. I now have a hardware proteus 2000, but now that everything is VSTi, its a bit of pain recording it etc.

how does manytone compare to hypersonic or sampletank?

Also not sure how the other VSTis fit in (Vox'd etc). Vox'd looks cool to me too. (of course group buy ends tmrw and I just discovered this).

if someone can let me know (or convince me ) how/why manystation would work for me I would be game to spend the $100.

The best advice I could give is the read the review here:

and also grab a copy of the demo for Wusikstation.

They are similar products from a functionality point of view, however Manystation have initially concentrated on more natural sounds, although there is plenty of crazy stuff as well. It comes with a huge library of very high quality sounds.

Manystation/Wusikstation can both access the same soundsets/banks/presets, and many talented sound developers have provided extra content, which is very high quality, and very playable.

You'll need to buy Wusiksation to get the TSW/Voxd group buy (as far as I know), but if you bought Manystation as well you wouldn't be wasting you money because of the extra 1.5Gb of content you get.

I don't have Hypersonic but do have Sampletank and Manystation (and Wusikstation and TSW and VOX'd...).

Both Sampletank and Manystation are excellent products and I probably don't use enough of the features of either of them to give a thorough comparision, but I'd say that Sampletank has more of the features you'd expect from a sampler (the stretch technology, the ability to combine lots of different samplesets into single instruments) whereas Manystation has the edge when it comes to quality of sounds, value for money (this really is ridiculously cheap for what you get) and ease of use (a very personal judgement!).

It's hard to judge from what you've said but you should also look at Wusikstation, which is a more "synthy" product than Manystation (but with the same engine under the hood). You can download demos for TSW and VOX'd and, if you're quick, get Wusik, VOX'd and TSW for $100.

If I were stranded on a desert island and could only choose one I think I'd go with Manystation (but I'd be hoping that the next shipwreck victim was bringing Wusikstation with them )

i hate getting more steingberg products because there support and update history are sketchy at best.

I am more of a singer songwriter looking for extra sounds to spice up acoustic/rock songs. Mainly what I want is a good workflow and an easy to use instrument.

I am at work now, gonna try to d/l the demo tonight.

I think the vox'd and manystation are up my alley. I like vocal pad type stuff as well.

Yes we will Have Violins and Banjos eventually. Over the next while we will be releasing some other instruments first, but those are in the List as well as other stringed stuff like Uke's and Dulcimers etc.
It may take time but you will continually see new things and GREAT support from us! As a matter of fact, Some Free addons are coming up soon.

Exactly what i am myself ... a singer songwriter who made an instrument for that purpose .... so you should find it well suited for that .. I surely do.

Not much till they are ready
But the first one will Mostly be a Drums and Basses Bank.
Containing a bunch of Cool Drumkits both Acoustic and Electronic and a few Bass / Synth sets. Maybe some more sounds too ... we'll see what i end up with. I think there should be about 20 to 30 Soundsets at least in it Plus a whack of Presets to go with it. I am just finishing all the Sample editing and I have started the soundset creation ... Then i need to do the presets with a bit of Help. (ToTc already offered to do some for it ) I am trying to get this out as soon as we can ... It is a Priority at the moment.

Also for Free ... Soon we will have a whack of Midi Guitar Files, for those that find it tough to program guitar patterns. These are all being recorded with Midi Guitars by a few different KvR guitarists ... They should allow the user to steal (heh) some strum or picking patterns etc for their own tunes ... A bit of a Midi guitar construction Kit
More info when I have them all in my hands.
