Hi,

I'm curious if anyone knows how or if this is possible. I'm in the middle of working on numerous projects and am in desperate need of a system upgrade. Right now i'm using a PC w/ cubase SX1. I want to get into a Mac G5 w/ cubase SX3. Will my current projects in SX1 on PC open up right into a Mac system w/ SX3? What about plugin data? If I have the waves bundle on both will they just open up seemlessly w/ the new version? Any concerns or comments I should be aware of?

Thanks for your time

Dan

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

Cubase's native plugs should open just fine, but I'd worry about third party plugs being lost in translation. If I were you, I'd bounce the individual tracks to wav files before attempting the transfer. Of course that's a lot of work if you're anything like me... So you may have to keep the old system intact (and handy) in case you really need to open an old song.

I don't know the specifics because I'm not a Steinberg'er. But I can say that the transition from OS 9 and Logic 4/5 to OS X and Logic 6/7 was very painful, and required me to keep my old machine around for quite a while, so I could pop back into the old system to resuscitate old songs. I almost wish I had waited until 2003 to switch to a computer-based studio...
