I don't get any macros or user info for any of the presets I've loaded so far. I see the header files in the SS2Instruments folder, but clicking on the image does nothing and I don't see any macro knobs. Could somebody tell me one of the presets that has info and macros associated with it so I can make sure nothing is broken. With my luck so far, I could be just selecting everything but the presets that have this info

Thanks,
Chisel

Upon close inspection, the macro knobs are actually being set, but they are completely greyed out with no labels so I can't control them with the mouse. I can control them with the MIDI knobs of my UC-33e but I have no idea what I'm controlling because they're not labeled! I'm gonna tell IK support about this.

Thanks,
Chisel

It's been a week and still no response from IK Multimedia regarding my SS2 issue. Has anybody here encountered this problem? My macro knobs are always greyed out, no labels displayed over the knobs, and clicking on the image in the bottom-right corner does nothing.

Thanks,
Chisel

A large number of presets in SS2 has no macros pre-programmed.

E Brass+Winds >> A Brass >> Brass Fall has all 4 macros programmed.

If you want to program your own macros, it can only be done with Chicken Systems' Translator Pro...

I appreciate the reply. I do indeed get the macro settings for that instrument. The reason I stil think something is wrong is that for example when I select A Synths >> A Motion Synths >> 008 A.I. Pad, the macro knobs turn to 11, 1, 4, and 12 o'clock respectively, but they are greyed out with no labels. Can you try that preset and tell me if you get the macros? Thanks again for your help. Also, would you mind telling me one of the presets that has info when you click on the picture? I haven't seen any yet.

Thanks,

Confirmed, the macro knobs change to the abovementioned values, I can even change e.g. CC-12 and macro-A knob will turn, the macro-B,C,D even introduce some change to the sound. :?

Squids, what's going on ??

I'm glad it's not just me. I still haven't gotten a response from IK Multimedia customer support. I'd like to get to the bottom of this. Is anybody else out there having this problem? Any ideas what may be causing it?

You don't need to talk to tech support about this. The Macro knobs automatically respond to CC 11, 12, 13, 14. They can also respond to other controllers if they are assigned that way in the programming. However, if they are greyed out then they may have assignments but aren't actually turned on. It will still move when greyed out but it means nothing because it isn't turned on. The Macros are there for those that are programming the sound to bring out special features or to make certain parameters stand out or other things like that. If we didn't do something then it isn't a problem it just was how we designed the sound.

It would be cool to have user macros but that may come later in the engine at some point. Right now it isn't set up that way. Although you have a lot more you can do with the midi control section anyway for setting up "hardware knob" macros of your own, so to speak. ;)

As far as Macro B, C and D even introducing some change to the sound... that could be just because those controllers are assigned to something in the sound perhaps. It may be something intentional or unintentional. If you think it might be unintentional then email us the particular sounds and we'll have a look before the next big update. Otherwise you can also try looking up the midi control info. Beyond that I suggest just using different controller numbers to avoid any issue if there even is one.

Thanks for the reply, Squids. I also think they forgot to enable clicking on the library image to display info about the preset. Sorry to be so persistent with this, but I've been in QA for ten years, so I tend to nitpick. On a positive note, the samples are outstanding and I'm having a total blast auditioning all of them. I highly recommend this package and I've spread the word to all of my musician friends :)
