A STAYER is a song that just won't leave your brain. It doesn't have to be a bad song, but the most annoying ones are, of course. Sharing a stayer is a bastard thing to do, so this is a nasty, inconciderate, bastard thread for your amusement.
My motivation for starting this is that the only thing that can get rid of a stayer is to start humming another, more powerful stayer.
So please, someone, help me get rid of my stayer:
My baby takes the morning train,
He works from nine to five and then -
I sing the same two lines again...
Please get rid of my stayer!

Easy. There was a BBC TV program back in the Eighties called "Not the Nine O Clock News" with a sketch where (short version of the story) someone was singing this song and their husband (Rowan Atkinson) kept contradicting them "I don't take the train, I go by bus", "I'm not working - I spend all day with a whore" etc.
Consequently I always hear this song as:
"My baby takes the morning bus,
He spends all day with a whore and then..."
Does that help? If not then it's the macarena for you

Macarena didn't work. I've tried many well known stayers (last christmas, we are the world, ring of fire...) but morning train is glued there today. I have resorted to the fickle temporary solution - I put on a CD to momentarily displace it...
