is something like this available in Cakewalk Sonar/VST Adapt

One of my favorite simple things in Logic Audio 5 was that you could place all your VST preset files in their own folder within the Plug-In Settings folder and then when you click on the (circled in red in the photo) in the VST Logic wrapper GUI window, a list of all your fxp/fxb show up right there basically saving a ton of time instead of having to use explorer to find them manually. It really is a great little feature.

Anyway is there something like this available within Sonar or someway to customize this within the VST Adapter? I am trying out the SONAR 4.0.1 Demo Version.

Not that Im aware of. The wrapper does give you load/save of bank and preset, but not 'library' functionality.

That is a cool feature. In Cubase SX you can save the presets with the plug-in now, I don't know if SX is an option for you.

I actually wont again buy anything that has a dongle. I went thru massive nightmares when I f**ked up my xskey some time ago. Thankfully Emagic were quite cool about replacement but it left me without recording options for some time. I won't ever put myself at that risk again.

I understand, dongles suck. The new dongles seem fine, but we did have occasional weirdness with the old LPT ones. I do like how Cakewalk explicitly states their dislike for copy protection, based on nothing but trust for the customer.

You should write Cakewalk about that feature, who knows, they might implement it someday.

I'm all for Cakewalk and completly against dongles and any kind of activation. I'll never buy another product that requires either!

Im not aware of any such addon, but its definitely not the Plugin Manager, which does something very different.

what's in P5 (an dhas been since v 1.5) is something that's now called device chains

it's possible to create/load/save a synth with linked fx chain and all related settings as a single handy object in and out of a library.
P5 v2 comes with the Roland Groove Thingie (Canvas?) and Rene's Dimension with a bunch of pre-configured device chains.
But you can create your own -- if you have something you really want to reuse

personally I go out of my way to try and not repeat myself so I don't use this feature. otoh i've also 'lost' a High String and Backward String ensemble for FM7 that I really liked. Otoh, I'd probably used them often enough already.

something like live use this would be indispensable and I've heard that some people set up a sort of mini combo to emulate their band to work up arrangements.
