"Don't take any chances with your subconscious! Get the "whitest" white noise there is."
I can't remember why, but I need it... Mmmm... Whiter noise....

It's a shame that there aren't any audio demos on that website...

well i understand there are different qualities of white/pink generators, but for household use how pure does your noise have to be? sure, if you are setting the levels in a mixing studio you'd want the best but this is just hilarious - i will give it to them though 10 dollars isnt too much to ask.

No matter the advertised color, it all sounds paisley to me . . . but that could just be flashbacks

With a good red noise generator you get flash-forwards!!!

In all seriousness, I listen to white noise every working day. They thought our office was too noisy so they put in white noise generators to deaden the sound. Now, especially late in the day after a lot of people have left, it sounds like I'm sitting in an airplane cruising at 35,000 feet.pakana wrote:...is this something American? Ok, thanks!
Never heard of such thing, this is interesting. Anyone read a good medical article
about the effects on brain?

I don't see how white noise would be relaxing. It has equal power distribution linearly over all frequencies. Which means half of the total sound power is in the 10kHz..20kHz range. Dudes, "pure" white noise sounds bright, hissy, and annoying. Brown noise or red noise is much more pleasant.
And now consider that all that's only true when listening on studio monitors. I suspect most people will be playing that white noise on small speakers... which will make the bright hissy annoying noise even brighter, hissier, and more annoying!
Forever,
Kim.
