Cool - always nice to see some new info on Philharmonik!
Too bad that the GPO group buy came out before Philharmonik was released, though
that's really going to hurt IK - Philharmonik is sounding like a much better library, but GPO is great too - and a lot cheaper, with this group buy!

I'm not sure at that price it will hurt much - I want the miroslav, but having just found out about the GPO, i think i'm going to get that as well.
The one thing i've realized lately is you can't have enough variation. And these two may complement each other well.

I don't think it will hurt it at all. Probably just make it that much more affordable for anyone wanting both. Or some people will just wait for Philharmonik I think (or so I have been told by a lot of people).Rellik wrote:Cool - always nice to see some new info on Philharmonik!

Ok, so maybe my theory doesn't stand up to actual fact
but in theory, the theory should hold true. I was originally planning on holding out for Philharmonik and passing on the GPO group buy, but then I regained my sense of reality - I still want Philharmonik, though... it sounds so amazingly good!

I understand. The way I look at it is that Philharmonik is not directly comparable to other orchestral products. What is good about GPO is the price. As for the material, I can't fairly share my opinion but I will at least say that I like Garritan's professional string library a whole lot better (but then the price is 10X as much... get what you pay for sometimes?)Rellik wrote:Ok, so maybe my theory doesn't stand up to actual factbut in theory, the theory should hold true. But, those things are out of our hands. We just worked really hard to make a product that people would want. I think if they REALLY like what we're doing, saying and what they're hearing then they'll find a way to get it!

I am debating this very thing right now. I basically budget $100 a month for software, and the GPO group buy fits nicely into that. I'm also finding that I have more software than I have time to learn and make use of. I try to be realistic, too. I am sold on Philharmonik, both from what Squids says it will be, and the demos I've heard. It sounds like GPO is a nice set, but I simply don't do enough orchestral work to justify having both.
It does test my patience a bit to wait for something I am as anxious to get as Philharmonik, and I've looked at GPO for a long time. It's no secret that I love to hunt for bargains, and GPO is definately a bargain. My instincts tell me that Philharmonik will more than meet my Orchestral needs, and that if I buy GPO I won't use it much when I have Philharmonik. It would be sort of like buying another couch for my living room, because I can get one cheap, and then realizing that I can only sit on one couch, and it would crowd the space I have.
I think I'm going to pass on GPO and wait for Philharmonik. If I get into the group buy, it would delay my getting Philharmonik when it does come out, and looking 3 months down the road, I doubt I would use GPO much. I have a feeling it would be another nice thing sitting on my hard drive that is never used.
I've been drooling over Philharmonik for 5 months now. Sigh,,,,,

I've had GPO over a year now, and I just have not used it that much. Like with every library, some sounds are better than others, but overall the samples are a little dull sounding IMO. I like some of the strings in Sampletank a little more than the strings in GPO, and I like the strings in Dimension quite a bit more than those in GPO.harmony gardens wrote:I think I'm going to pass on GPO and wait for Philharmonik. I don't want to slam GPO because when it came out there was nothing like it for the price, and there's a lot of good things you can say about the programming, but based upon the Miroslav demos and what others who have used the Miroslav library have said, I think the samples in Philharmonik will tend to have a more expressive and lively sound than the GPO samples.

That makes sense. It's a good deal for the money. But, whether it takes care of your orchestral sound needs fully is another story. This is up to each person of course and highly subjective of course. I'd rather have Miroslav Philharmonik too but I am completely biased so...

I am probably going to save for Miroslav. These days I am just not playing enough to spend on software, but by the time Philharmonik comes out, I HOPE that I will be back to making more music.

Hello Mr. Fusion! Good to see you.
Yes, Miroslav Philharmonik is very inspiring. I think you'll love it.
