Hi guys - Not sure which forum to post or exactly how to phrase my question...

I've been using Jammer for midi & Cakewalk GTP for audio & vst effects, playing sounds thru Roland VSC soft sound canvass. Jammer is not a vst host nor set up for Rewire. I only use GM sounds & have been wanting to expand - have more vintage synth sounds, or maybe make the jump to a whole new midi environment such as Reason. I've been advised to try midi yoke but it sounds overly complex & less than perfect. Any advice wd be appreciated if you can sense what my question is!! Thanks.
And - I'm a gtr player & not really a midi player.

try the demo's of everything to see what fits your style.
I'm a guitarist myself and use
cubase sx
orion plat
(I also have flstudio - which is probably the cheapest and has audio recording)
but (and this is important)
Try the Demo

You might want to give Tracktion 2 a try. A couple of non-techie guitarists I've introduced to it have found it extremely easy to work with. And it is fully buzzword compliant - PDC, Rewire, VST, freeze, etc.

But bluedad is right. It's really difficult to recommend a host unless you have very specific needs. Most hosts are on par with each other for about 90% of users so it just comes down to a matter of preference (i.e. "workflow"). Demos are your friend. :)
