What plugins do you have in your mastering rig?

Any cheapasses like myself here and just use freeware? I've positivly convinced one could produce, mix, and master entire tracks using just freeware and trick the average lister...not that it would take that much to trick the "casual listeners"...

I mean... I'm convinced of that too, but IMO it's not a trick, it's 'just' using the freeware products with the right skills (and creativity). e.g. Classic EQ -> Classic Compressor -> Classic Limiter for mastering.
But... You forgot to mention the products that you are using?

Oh MY GOD!!!
Why use C1 AND LinMB AND L3????
Even using the LinEQ AND the LinMB seems like more than necessary to me...
But... what the hell do I know? What's the delay on that list... a million samples?

C1 for bass sidechain wiht look ahead on (so that the LinMB [using sometimes] has a easier job,) split 119hz 50:1 ratio, ca. -40 threshold, attack 70ms, release ms. and you will never have probs with your bass in radio, tv, or club!
The L3 give the most loudness (arc mode adj. "warm").
Small delay! Athlon 3,6XP RME Multiface.
!!!Be clever and read the "Waves mixing and mastering guide" and than you will know, why i do this way!!!

I don't have a proper mastering-setup and I'm not a (self or otherwise) trained engineer, so "mastering" would be a bit strong.
For finishing, I use mainly Soniformer and Elephant. Sometimes, CurveEQ is added to the list, but I'd like to use a more classical EQ and I'm middling between GlissEQ and GEQ (which is academical as I can't afford either right now).
Most compression and eq-ing is done in the mix.
Groet, Erik

Everything I use is freeware. (Poverty blows!) The tools are there to get you to about 90% of where you want to be, and that's certainly good enough for hobby use -- and maybe a bit more. With such brilliant free plugs as the Classic, Digitalfishphones, BuzzRoom, Simulanalog, et cetera ad infinitum ad nauseam, you already have a huge variety of superb choices. My spies inform me that mgcollins21 wrote:Any cheapasses like myself here and just use freeware? For someone who hasn't (still) quite got a handle on all things mastering, would Ozone3 or CurvEQ/Soniformer + Elephant be better? FYI I have Crunchessor & GCO already.
Worried that Ozone may be a little high level for me.

whatever combination of hydratone, wavearts' multidynamics, UAD pultec eq, UAD fairchild and logic's linear phase eq that works.... followed by either UAD precision limiter or wavearts' finalplug.

I very highly recommend Voxengo Soniformer 2 and Voxengo Elephant 2. Extremely good mastering plugins. For EQ I recommend Hydratone or for 'neutral' eq I suggest the one in izotope ozone or Voxengo Gliss EQ (put to 0 dynamics). Also the soon (eh, 8 months?
) to be released Tritonedigital Angel Tone will probably rule the mastering EQ plugin world.
EDIT: I forgot to mention the 2-bus compressor of choise, here I'd either go for Kjaerhus Golden Compressor or Voxengo Polysquasher but probably the GCO is better for it's extreme flexibility.
