What the hell? It's getting even more strange.
I don't have all that much against drugs, Acolmiztli, but you should defenitely stay away from them and get a life instead!

I completely respect torben. Sorry your group buy didn't turn out the way you'd hoped. Not to shift the topic a bit (although i'm sure no-one would mind shifting from the topic this has already switched to) but i think that the reason the group buys aren't as successful as they were in the beginning is simply because there are too many. I think the dev's have taken a good thing and kinda f**ked themselves with it. The reason the camel audio group buy was so successful was partly becuase those type of things didn't happen very often and since cameleon5000 was such a great product...every body had to get onboard...including myself....but there's a different group buy going on everyday now...every time I open this page there is another group buy going on. Now, I appreciate them just as much as the next guy...but spacing them out a bit would with-out-a-doubt make them more successful.

Ok. Forget my comments, lets just say that either a: my perspective is warped or b: I just interpretted that single sentence in the wrong manner. If you go back, you'll see in my original post that I admitted it "could just be me" .. you f**kers didn't have to be such fanboys about it and attack me though. We could have resolved it quite easily with diplomacy... something the first response lacked very much.
Now then.. I think the group buy wasn't successful because the product doesn't have much of an appeal. I even said in the group buy thread, to Torben directly, that people might not be joining because they might be thinking "ok... another compressor from Torben... boring!!!!"
Now whether that is true or not remains to be seen, a few people said the timing was bad, but for me at least it was because the product didn't interest me. I just hope Torben understands this and make something different than a compressor.
How about more processing effects like the GMO-1. I would pay for something like Reason's RV7000 from these guys!!

I previously got GCO, GMO and GEQ. Got good deals on all three exceptional products. Having GCO, I wasn't interested in the GB.kritikon wrote:I don't even think it's a bad choice of words...he's saying very loudly - thanks to everyone who bought, and hey, all you people who didn't...look what great kind of deal you can get if you become our customers. That isn't how he meant it. He couldn't possibly blame people for NOT buying his product. It's just a way of saying that he wants to thank his customers for being so loyal - probably a bad choice of words.
Win, win to everyone I'd have thought.
HOWEVER, I would not have been the least bit pissed off if Torben had sold the GB for $1.
His business, a GB I wasn't keen on and non of my bloody business. I will say that the participants got a super deal and I know that most of us <cough!> welcome them to the family of happy Kjaerhus product owners.
All in favour of nominating Acolmiztli as chief engineer on the B&M Railroad (Bitch and Moan) raise your hands.?
Looking forward to the next product release Torben!

As I understand it, Torben's beef is with the people who claimed they would buy a simple, cut-down compressor instead of GCO. But when the majority of people buying it already had GCO and GAC (which should basically cover everything GUP does), it's clear that those people who were asking for it don't want it. It's just that he spent time and effort making GUP, when the results of the group buy suggest it's not really in demand.

Isn't that what the classic compressor is?? I'm looking forward to seeing what Torben releases in the future. But as someone else said, I'm not going to get exciting over 12 new compressors with a few different knobs and sliders.Warmonger wrote:As I understand it, Torben's beef is with the people who claimed they would buy a simple, cut-down compressor instead of GCO.

Then don't. I don't care if you are interested in Kjaerhus products or not. I just think it's odd to get so worked up over a short explanation of why he did what he did, especially considering he isn't a native English speaker.I'm looking forward to seeing what Torben releases in the future. But as someone else said, I'm not going to get exciting over 12 new compressors with a few different knobs and sliders.

Mate, it is a matter of INTERPRETATION.
Notice that you were the *only* one who interpreted his statement in a wholly negative way.
I, and everybody else interpreted it as a generous offer to his previous customers.
Which, I would venture, is how Torben meant it.
It looks to me like your perception is shaped by a personal issue with guilt.
Regards,
Bill

You're claiming this could've been solved with diplomacy, Acolmiztli?
Seriously, what drugs are you on, mate? Did your initial reply show ANY hint of diplomatic sense? You were basically saying you wouldn't buy any Kjaerhus product again because Torben has been generous to his customers - in what way would you expect people to "solve" anything in a diplomatic way after reading such utter BS?
And, in case it's really the word choice you care about: Torben is no native english speaker. But you in all your snobbery seem to forget about that.

You are aware of course that English is NOT Torben's native language?Acolmiztli wrote:I'm not even bitching about Torben. I'm bitching about his choice of words!
And on what concrete evidence do you base your presumptuous conclusions about Torben's actions? We do not want those who supported this group buy to loose due to the absence of all those who did not!
It is right there. He is saying that he feels guilty about not being able to give a sweet deal, and rather than blaming his own product's lack of enticement, he blames the people who did not participate. I guess all those people are just numbskulls who don't know what they're missing out on. Because this new product is really something you can't live without.
...presuming you can speak for anyone else but yourself.
Which is EXACTLY what you are doing buy claiming that Torben's actions involved any 'guilt ' or 'blame'. Those two words are figments of your overactive imagination.
