A good compressor, a good EQ, and a nice multi-fx (ex filter/delay/etc)

Vintage Warmer -- couldn't live w/o what it can do to drums
Filterscape (can create delays -- what it can do to leads and pads)
Polysquasher -- multi compressor -- what it can do to a mix

have to leave Blockfish home for what it can do to a bass and have to learn to use VW for that

few months off would do me good and give me some time to learn these tools

Don't know if I could decide on specific models, but I'd take:
-Delay (which I'd also use as a poor man's reverb)
-EQ
-probably a compressor, but hopefully one that would give some dirty saturation when driven hard so I could use it for distortion too.
