Hollow Sun 'NewTron Bomb' CD released......

Hollow Sun's 'NewTron Bomb' CD is now available to buy at the site. It features the most popular frames from the legendary tape playback keyboard:

At present, it's only in S5/6000 format (compatible, of course, with Z-Series and MPC4000 and the growing number of s/w samplers that can now read S5/6000 programs) - it will be MFI'd for use with a wider range of samplers soon.

The NewTron differs from the freeby Tron samples that have been available at the site since its inception in that whilst the freebies are shorter samples taken every minor third, these are full length on every note.

Apart from looping - yes, no eight second limitation! - and normalisation and trimming, the samples are unprocessed and unadulterated and, as an ex-Tron owner myself, I can reliably tell you that they're as close to the real thing as you are likely to find (except that you won't have to dismantle and service your sampler every time you want to use the sounds

Furthermore, various program variations are included that provide floaty, ethereal versions not possible on the original but much beloved of Japanese synth master and Tron expert, Isao Tomita, who created similar dreamy Tron sounds on his seminal albums back in the '70s by processing it through his massive Moog modular and huge reverb. There are also various filter swept versions available reminiscent of early Tangerine Dream.

I just bought Mellotronix, the "DASHsnd version of the Hollow Sun NewTron Bomb collection". I converted the files to WusikSound format in order to use them in Wusikstation.
It is a very good set of sounds. I already have M-Tron, with additional tape banks; based on that, I can say that many of my Mellotron needs are now nicely covered by this Hollow Sun collection in a very practical way. Highly recommended.
