Is it possible to completely turn off the audioengine in Cubase SL, (only use the midi function) in order to save cpu-power for stand alone s/w-samplers/synths?
If not, is there any other "new" audio_midi-sequencer in which you can do that?

Unlike VST (which was a Midi app with audio bolted on) the SL/SX series is based around audio, and as such the audio engine cannot be turned off (afaik).

if you dont do anything audio related in cubase there´s almost no cpu-load - so what the benefit in turning it off?
