Thanks Torben - I certainly love GCO-1. But I think were it all went pear shaped is when you added two critically important features (true sidechain and wet/dry balance) to the "inferior" cheaper one. Can't you see that the guys who appreciate the professional model are the very guys who need these pro features? The kids who want to buy the cheaper version probably won't even understand or use these features! It's frustrating. I appreciate that you need money, and forcing us to buy GUP-1 is one way to get some. But there is a better way, and that is to upgrade your "flagship" and charge us for the upgrade. I trust you can see the logic in this. You don't have to do anything of course - we appreciate your products for what they are. But this is a cause of resentment, and competitors could take advantage of this buy offering us a compressor that does it all. Maybe - who knows?Torben wrote:greendoor, GCO-1 is the flagship compressor and will always be. It was the concept from the start to make one compressor that could allot instead of 20 pcs of "one flavour" compressors. But there seemed to be a marked for a less complex compressor; at least, that was what I was told on several occasions.

nope - actually I read it the same way as you - imo there is clearly some kind of reproach lurking betwixt those words... - but then English isn't my native languageAcolmiztli wrote:Warmonger wrote:I understand how your interpretation would make you a bit pissed. We do not want those who supported this group buy to loose due to the absence of all those who did not!
I guess the way I read this is different to everyone else.
not that it really matters anymore but still...

greendoor, not many hosts supported true side chaining when the GCO-1 was made but they do now, so it is not strange that a new product got this feature. But as said the Golden Compressor will always be the flagship with most features though the GUP-1 is ahead with the side chain right now. Don't misunderstand the concept of the GUP-1, it's made for those who want it simpler, not as a side chain add on to the GCO-1.

people who think GCO-1 is too complicated are f**king c**ts anyway so there's no wonder they didn't join the group-buy...Torben wrote:Don't misunderstand the concept of the GUP-1, it's made for those who want it simpler, not as a side chain add on to the GCO-1.

So if GUP-1 isn't a side-chain add on (or wet/dry addon for that matter), how else can GCO-1 owners get side-chain or wet/dry? That's the whole problem. (Am I the only CGO-1 owner who is pissed off about this?) I appreciate that hosts have changed. Why can you not simply upgrade GCO-1 with side-chain and wet/dry. I would have been happy to pay for this. As it is - I'll wait until such time as I desperately need these features, and maybe get the demo then or see what else is on the market.

it seems a lot of people have a problem with readinggreendoor wrote: Why can you not simply upgrade GCO-1 with side-chain and wet/dry?
Your question had been answered before you asked it.But as said the Golden Compressor will always be the flagship with most features though the GUP-1 is ahead with the side chain right now.
GCO-1 will of course get an update with sidechaining!

But on the GCO-1 topic...I must admit I'd be just a little miffed too, if I had bought GCO-1. That however, is exactly the reason I didn't rush in and buy GCO-1 in the first place, even though I loved the demo. I was pretty sure that some version would be released eventually that had a sidechain - the writing was on the walls. And it was. And it's pretty much GCO-1 without a few frills - but then the sidechain means you can do more with it than with GCO-1.
I'm sure GCO-1 will have a sidechain at some point - the coding has pretty well been done as far as I can see...just needs all throwing into one plugin. Apart from that sidchain, I would have loved to get GCO-1...still might at some point...which'll mean more pressure for another group buy
