Hey I finally bought the Gota Yashiki CD myself, and found the samples to be a little muffled sounding. Also, the kick drum sounded like somebody banging on the door. I guess that the guy's style, but it wasn't too useful to me
Maybe this was a popular drum sound in 1994? (When the CD was recorded.)

I gotta say, the sound is FANTASTIC on the Gota CD. I disagree with you completely.

It's the basis of the drums I used here.

Interesting example, what tracks were you using from the CD? Any processing worth mentioning?
It would seem that the kick sounds better in the mix than by itself... very enlightening example indeed, thanks

I used part of "Dolly". Keep in mind, however, that I also used about 15 of my own samples to augment the loop

Great Track, I really like it, all Drums are Gota or do you used more sounds from other libarys?

Xenox: the drums are from a huge variety of sources. Free stuff, Battery 2, Stylus RMX, Gota, etc etc. It is the main rhythm that comes from Gota (chopped + processed) - the basis that makes it sound human and alive. What I did was layer my own sounds over that pattern and build on it. For instance, besides the main loop, I have a bassdrum sequence consisting of 3 separate BD samples, a snare sequence consisting of 5 different snare samples, and four different hihat patterns with about 6 different HH sounds, among other things.
Jonny; I'm not a big fan of "sampling" in the traditional sense. I agree that hats and ghost hits are important, but sometimes the timbre of the sample is the biggest factor.

Zircon:
Thank you for big and interesting answer...! I asked you because I still like the Drums and Music from Crystal Method, great stuff and the Track I heard from you sounds similar to some Drums from TDM, i think. But the track itself is very, very good...! To the Sounds, I am still doing drums, too and I use the same way like you, layering Snares and Basedrums, EQing the whole shit and compressing like helll!
But sometimes the result is very different to the sound i had in my mind, to do more and some nu Drums I was searching for another Drum Sample CD I can use for it, GOTA Sounds very good... Thank you again for all infos..

Glad I could be of some help. Let me know if there's anything else I can do
Another wip;

Doesn't use Gota, but I think the drums are pretty neat so far.
