I found all the demos to be cpu intensive.

Voxformer is on the heavy side of CPU usage but it is intended essentially for final mixing/mastering, not tracking. What I do is to render my mixes and when necessary apply Voxformer to the rendered files using Wavelab, along with a few other plugins (mostly Voxengo: EQ, single-band compressors, limiter, etc.)
In this context I've had no problem using Voxformer in my P4 2.4GHz.

Umm, Voxformer is a vocal-oriented channel strip. Channel strips are typically used for the input stage, not the mastering stage.

I run it in AA and lock it or print it to a second track (saving the original)...I see no real advantage of having it as an input stage...;)

Note that you can adjust the quality so that it previews in low quality but renders in high quality "Auto". Also make sure you're forcing mono, as that will cut cpu in half.

I find it useful to make a temp mix of all the instruments in the song, track the vocals, bring in voxformer, bounce the vocals down, disable voxformer, and then mix everything as per usual.

:bang: Yeah, I know... Everything I said is true for the SONIFORMER, not Voxformer (I don't even have this one). Sorry guys, I promise to be completely awaken before posting anything else again...

voxformer is high cpu because it is a vocal channel - ie., multiple effects rolled into one. eq, couple of compressors, de-esser etc. as stated - good candidate for 'freezing' to free up cpu.

Maybe the voxengo stuff is more AMD friendly (or maybe AMD are faster ) but I have no stutter on my XP64 3200+ and usually several instances.
Compared to other solution (eg. a multiband + gate + etc...) Voxformer is not bad on the CPU.

Erik.

I have a 3ghz CPU and I run multiple Voxformers all the time. For what it does I think it's pretty CPU friendly. Certainly no worse than running idvidual EQ, Gate, Compressor and De-Esser plugs. It's a great plug.

All demos from Voxengo, or did you mean demos in general??
If Voxengo, have you compared them to the unlocked versions?
