I've been buying the mag since issue 16 and have not once found a sample from the cover discs that I could use.
Just interested to know whether anyone has used any of the samples that come with Computer Music.
Anyone ?

That's an interesting point - I too don't recall coming across any samples that I've actually used but every single reader's demo seems to state...

Think I've used some of Scot Solidas ethnic instruments before. He made some good brass/woodwind/strings samples too...

As others I use much of Scot Solida's works, in DS404 or I convert them with Awave. Been not using many loops until now, but can't find that those of CM are THIS bad? Usually I put the DS404-multis on my hard drive (for example as you got all issues in 75 or so was a nice strange old-sounding piano called "BabyG") and later try them and keep the ones I like.

Many people who use samples mainly in their music always tell me "freeware is shit" though. Actually i don't believe it. Well, it's easy to test; compare with your other stuff :D.

(And as you got all mags, could you you search in ooold number 64 how the Tascam US-122-review was and pm or tell me shortly  )

cheers,

Georg

Speaking of CM, has anyone here used Limelite Solo? I could never get the file saving system to work. It seems like it saves but when I close and open it again...ALL GONE!!

Oh yeah! I've used them lots: mostly the horn multi-samples they had on a couple of years ago, and once in a while the drum or guitar loops. I've also gotten alot of use out of the, uh, more colorful female "urban" (or should that be "oozin") samples from CM 66.... FOR MUSIC OF COURSE!!!

I can't see any reason folks wouldn't use them (there's just something fun about making a track out of whatever happens to be on the disc that month) unless they either have something better already (which is possible) or are just plain stuck up (which is also possible).

I always use the drum/percussion one-hit samples from CM to build my drum parts and sometimes several other stuff.

I'm very hopeful about the Trange samples on this month's cover disc

You cant beat people up then have them say "I love you"

I've used a number of CM samples. Granted, not all of the stuff you get on the CDs are worth much, but they do have some real gems from time to time......I always go for the free VSTs and tutorials....the samples are just bonus to me.
