Cubase SX 22. Drawing automation causes erratic values ?

Anyone here that can confirm this;

i.e. I'm automating a volume slide. It goes from 127 to 0 in maybe 8 beats. I draw a line ( start point and end point bascially ) and when i playback cubase slides down the volume. If i change that sweep into 0 to 127 then when i play it back often its as if the previous values are invisible but still there. The volume slider goes up /down very erratic.

The above example may be too complicated. In short; it seems that drawing multiple automation lines may cause cubase to read 'invisible' faulty values.

Does this behavious sound familiar to anyone?

In Sx2 I have heard of (but not expeienced) this problem.

If you posted about it on Cubase.net, I may have heard it from you though.

THere don't seem to have been any reports of it in SX3, but it may be worth checking the bugbase at Cubase.net.

No..... :?

yes i posted in the cubase forum too. as zeep. (btw im silvio ecomo but will stop using that account)

I guess i'll have to cash out and buy buggy sx3 then, because this automation bug is killing my mood. I've been keeping from updating because of the bug threads i've seen on sx3. I really hate steinbergs bugs, the infamous Midi-recording-too-soon bug not the least of them.

Anyway thanks for your thoughts.

Before you do upgrade, I will test the automation thing, to see if I can ever get it to fail in SX3.

Could you give me an exact scenario that causes the problem on your system, and I will attempt to reproduce it.

I would not like to even hint at recommending something that costs money and does not fix your problem.

If you have a project (just a test one) that you wish to email which shows the problem, I would be happy to test it in SX2 and then SX3, and say honestly what happens in each version.

If the problem happens in only the earlier version with my setup, then that would give you some idea that the upgrde is truly that.

Bas.

Nice to see you here, Bas!

Last thing I heard was you were gonna stop being the Volunteer Steinberg Helpdesk, no? Changed your mind?

Lucky us to have you here. I hope you'll enjoy your stay.

I really thought i replied to this post but it seems i didn't!?

A late reply then but nevertheless.. Thanks for your offer Bas. Very kind of you indeed. As it is now, i haven't yet bought SX3 but a new computer instead.

The automation bug in SX2 persisted though, but i don't get it every time. One way to surely get it is as follows;
Load any SX2 project, draw a channel volume automation that fades in a sound in about 30 seconds. (just one dot at start volume and one dot for end volume will do). After that play it back, the fader will nicely fade in. Then if i move the dots up/down a bit, maybe draw a few dots in the line, my problem begins. Playing back after the above edits the fader shudders as if it's getting extreme values among the drawn ones.

My DAW is not one of the stablest around so i believe the cause lies there. Also because i've only seen 1 post at cubase.net on this issue and that guy didn't get much help either.

Anyway, SX3 got good responses after the last patch so i believe it's safe to buy. I am a bit reluctant because many posts @ cubase say SX3 eats up more CPU than 2 did for the same projects. But that's patching for ya!

Regards,

Zeep
