Especially vocals, but also drums and guitars.

I've downloaded several demo's from a few developers (that I have yet to try out), but I'm curious what you guys/gals think.

Voxengo VoxFormer and Kjaerhus GAC :D. Assuming that you're looking for VST's ;).

...both more than just compressors...

Blockfish rocks for drums and bass.
At home, he's a tourist...

TC Native 3.0's Compressor De-Esser is my fave track-insert compressor, but it's discontinued. Still available, but you have to throw down for the whole Bundle.

For vocals, Waves RenVox is my favourite; so easy, so effective! You can get it cheap in the Musicians' Bundle.

People really like Voxengo stuff (not me) and Kjaerhus are making quite a name for themselves, their free Classic bundle has a couple of good compressors their Golden line is very good too.

Neodynium: the most under-rated comp out

uad's la2a is awful smooth on vocals. The 1176 is a little more likely to give character. I usually use both.

GAC is real nice for pushing the vocal a little. I use it on the drum buss a lot since I picked it up.
Grist for the glamour mill.

Let's not forget TbT's wonderful compressor/lmiters.

Neodynium gets my vote. I think its under-rated cos it goes over a lot of people heads.

Yeah, that's a strange one. I'm sure it's great - becuase it's Elemental Audio - but damn, I just couldn't figure it out when I tried it.

Yea I already have GUP-1 but I'm looking at GAC-1.

What an amazing effect.

Torben's a genius.

I like GUP-1 or Crunchessor---->Hydratone mid/treble boost for vocals. I only have the HT demo, though, because I'm waiting to try AngelTone.

Also, try Endorphin (digitalfishphones) for vocals or anything else!
