An unorthodox question..

The world of sampling, sample libraries, and virtual instruments is extremely interesting to me. While I'm a passionate performer and composer, I find this more technological area to be absolutely fascinating. I have spent the last few years teaching myself about all facets of music technology, with a sort of specialization in music software and soundware (including Sonic Reality stuff, of course, which I'm quite fond of!). Besides owning a wide array of virtual instruments and libraries and using them regularly, I try to keep myself educated; I receive Keyboard, Recording, and Electronic Musician magazines, and I regularly buy Future Music, Computer Musician, and Music Tech, among other things. Of course, I also follow resources on the web such as KVR, Northern Sounds, SOS, etc.
Next year, I'll be entering college (Drexel, specifically) to further study music, music law, and music technology, but I would like to get involved before then. My question to the folks of Sonic Reality is this; would there a position for someone like me in your business? As I said before, this is a field that greatly interests me, and I cannot think of a better way to get involved than to do some work for for an established developer like SR.
Thank you in advance for your time!

PS. Please visit my website (http://www.zirconstudios.com) or PM me if you need more information (I can also give my phone number if it would make you more comfortable to discuss this 'live').

We've been getting a lot of inquiries lately which we are thankful for. Most people want to work in sound design but we have enough people on the team for this already I think (in fact, I think SR is one of the largest in terms of personel amongst sound developers out there). There is an internship program for those that are local (or temporarily relocate) to gain experience but that is only offered to a handful of people when there is an opening.
However, we ARE looking for some really good sales reps in the US, UK and some other areas. IK is too. If you can play, talk and sell then there may be a job for you at either company. For SR you can email: jobs@sonicreality.com and for IK you can go to www.ikmultimedia.com and look for the job opportunities there.

Thanks for the prompt response! I doubt that as a seventeen (soon to be eighteen) graduating high school student, I'll be able to do any sales work.. but I'll send an email soon, anyway.
On a side note, out of curiosity, are you familiar with the name Jim Klein? He's a professor at Drexel, and he spoke highly of Sonic Reality.. he mentioned something about developing some sort of guitar strumming sample technique, sounded very interesting

A youngen!
The sales position is a late twenties/early thirties age territory I think. Lots of travel etc but I posted that in case anyone was reading that wanted to apply.
Usually we have interns in their early twenties come in for the experience and sometimes it leads to greater things in one way or another.
I know Jim. Tell him I say hello. He's very talented. We did something with him for one of our titles called Modern Songwriter. Probably if that was done now it would have been done differently though. It worked well but it was made more for the limitations of Akai sampler's ram. He's a good guy though. I always liked Jim. I didn't know he was teaching. He won an Emmy or a Grammy I think. He scores soaps.
