So i load some plates, rooms etc.from PSM 91 and i cant believe how they are so goood :o

I did not find any soft/algorithm reverb to sound like this impulse things IMO.

Any experience??

Yes i know :) Did not bother with this since everyone tellin that impulses eat to much CPU cycles. But since noe i have P4 at 3,2GHZ i try it out and voila :) And it eat only few CPU cycles :)

I guess your Credit card is itching now... Don't think that Pristine Space will hurt it too much. $40?

Is it a big difference to SIR?

What does 'multichannel' limitation mean for the lite version?

Are impulse responses most often multichannel?

It's good to hear the pleasure with convolution reverb...it constantly amazes me how so many people can be happy with the majority of native reverb. I would have thought it impossible to carry on using M2, Ambience etc once you've heard what a Lexicon or Eventide can do. :?

Look at the description of pcm 90 on noisevoilt

Description: These EXCELLENT PCM90 impulses were brought to my attention by the creator and allowed for inclusion in the library. They are much better than the Monster PCM91 impulses!

Try it you gonna be surprise

From what I remember, the Monster PCM91 impulses were 16bit? I remember there was a huge selection of PCM91 impulses that sounded awful - low bit rate, and probably badly recorded and normalised. The 24bit ones however are nicely recorded. Personally I won't use 16bit impulses of reverbs any more...to my ears the tails are alot smoother at 24bit.

I had been using SIR since it was released with various impulses I downloaded, then I bought Pristine Space and the full set of Spirit Canyon IRs along with the free downloads from Noisevault (the hardware IRs). Get Pristine Space, either version.

kritikon - wrong. I just downloaded that from PCM 90 and they are 16 bit and sound is not so special. That from PCM 91 is much more better. Check it by yourself.

Halls from PCM 90 are 16-bit and from PCM91 are 24.bit...

Much better sound with that PCM 91 :)

Hard to work out from the text file whether they're recorded in 24bit and then dithered to 16bit or something.

But yes, the PCM90 ones seem to be 16bit.

Before you blow $40 it would be wise to check out Convo Boy.

but these real hardware units modulate the reverb tail so you aren't hearing a static response.

I own PristineSpaceLight and love it, but I rarely get good results with hardware impulse responses... I use it more for drastic effects.

I enjoy loading an acoustic drum as an "impulse response" (anything hit with a stick works nice) and feed drumsynth sounds through.... :)

When using convolution, why limit yourself to hardware impulses? ;) Try the Spirit Canyon impulses too :D, and if you like weird sounds, just load a (any) wave file as an impulse... With a bit of experimenting you can use it as a flanger or a chorus as well ...

And in addition to Pristine Space (Light), be sure to check out Convo boy too. I have both, they differ a bit, both are great products.

I'm a happy PSLite owner and I use some of the Noisevault impulses.

I tend to use PSLite for fancier effects - my other non-impulse reverbs are fine for drums and most instruments, but some of the impulses I have are better for vocals and/or trippy spacey effects. :hihi:

I have a 3.0GHz P4/800MHz FSB and PSLite doesn't cause any more damage than Rhino2 or z3ta. :P
