Hello All

Thanks for all the kind replies to the first release, they made me go :D
Some bugs were found and some good requests made.
I hope this version will cure all...

New in version 1.1
Fixed any denormals, which caused the CPU to spike when there was no input and the gate was closed.
Fixed the noise gate, Now should respond better to low input levels.
Added stereo input, There is an added switch in the title bar labeled Mono, When it is (On) Only the left input is active. When (Off) both the left and right inputs are summed to mono.

@FrettedSynth

Haven't had the chance of using Free Amp in a song yet, but really liked what I've heard so far. I was looking for a freeware amplitube-ish plugin - and this is better than I dared to hope. Thank you for your generosity and hard work.

Thanks. Are you sure this is v1.1 ? It's the same file like 2 days ago.

I have just downloaded it myself...in the zip-file there should be a file "New in v1_1.doc"...

I have now renamed the download file to Free_Amp_SEv1.1.zip

Hi FrettedSynth (nice nick),
congrats for the effort and the award. I tried your plugin in version 1.0 and I liked the effects esp. the Wah but (some constructive criticism follows) I had a problem with the sound of the amps itself. It had a good quality when used with clean settings (some clean presets are very useful) but when one starts overdriving it there is some "plastic" quality in the sound. When I tried it with high gain sounds there were some very strange artifacts when I was bending some high notes. Finally I think that there is too much echo in many presets.
Note that I had similar complaints with other guitar sims. The only one that does an adequate job for me is JCM900 combined with revolverb as a cab sim.
I hope I wasn't harsh but I think there is room for improvements in the core of your plugin.
Cheers

Room for improvemeny, Yep! there always is room for that! will keep on keepin on, hopefully one will work for you eventually.

Thanks for the link asseca.
And again thanks for the help testing v1.1.

Wow, it sounds fairly different from other amp sims, but I do like that "plastic" quality :) But I second zeoy about the delay, there's WAY too much of it in all presets :-o How can you actually hear what you're playing? :hihi:

Anyway big kudos for this, it will definitely stay in my vstplugins directory 8)

>but I do like that "plastic" quality

Hmm? plastic sound, The sound that will never decay :) Maybe that is why I get such good sustain?

>But I second zeoy about the delay, there's WAY too much of it in all presets How can you actually hear what you're playing?

Yeh! Kind of added the bedroom tone there  Sorry.
Give me a little break, I'm not joking in the About box when I say I Play Bass :D
So not too bad for a Bass player Huh?
