Squids,

Any plans on doing something similar to the QL Symphonic Choirs? I saw a video of that and loved the ability to form words (and the quality of it). I thought it might be a nice complement to miroslav. Is there anything else out there like this right now?

For the present, the QL Choir is in a class by itself. The VOTA library never was very good for word building but it was great to have ANY kind of sung annuciations.

I never liked the tone of the VOTA choir but the SOV, while having a better tone was not as versatile.

Frankly, I preferred the tone of the old Siedlaczak choir, but it was a mixed choir and not versatile either.

It will be interesting to hear what choir material is included in the Miroslav Philharmonik. :?:

I have choir material with every syllable. In fact, I've been collecting a massive amount of vocal samples for years. I had this idea a long time ago and when I saw thi QL I said to myself "Well, you can't do everything at the same time". I was pretty impressed. I like to see things that are just concepts of mine actually work in action. The same thing with the Continuum Fingerboard (a whole other thing but I had also had a similar idea and then I saw this to be able to try out what I had in mind and sure enough it worked!).

So, to answer your question, I'd like to. Maybe we will. I am not even sure exactly how they do it. Probably some kind of text to midi key triggering thing. I need to pick this library up anyway even for my own enjoyment.

I have VOTA with the Version 2 utility (I bet you're surprised, right Dave? ;) ) You type in what you want it to sing and split it at the phenome parts. The newer utility allows you to control the timing of each vowel and consonant with a slide bar for length. It works pretty well, but... could use some improvements, like being able to have it start from teh beginning, or loop a part so you can perfect it. It's hard to get the fluidity of a real singer though. Here's a short snippit I did awhile back with VOTA. It pulled off a nice 'gregorian monk' kinda thing, I think. Clarify needs a bit of work.

The piece was for a 'bumper' for a friend's video production company.
